im in the process of picking up some rims. but the the 18x8.5 +52 offset
up front seems like it will look pretty close to stock. anyone here
running an offset similar to this? pics?

btw, this is going on an FD. these rims are stupid hard to come across,
especially for the price im getting them at. haha dont wanna say
what kind of rims, dont want anyone to take them

It will be fairly similar to the stock setup. The worse case is you use a spacer.

i was afraid of that. i hear a lot of bad things about spacers,
but will a 10mm spacer be a bad idea? i know that using
1 in. spacers are a big "no." but will 10mm have any handling/
cornering/high speed issues?

How much do they weigh? That is the important question--unless you just want to look fast.

i believe that +42 up front will look much better and still not rub. Maybe even more (+40 or 38)

well the rims im trying to get are volk CE28n time attacks.
i believe they weigh 17 - 18.5 lbs. per rim.
i love these rims, but i just hate how they are so hard to find
in the right offsets. i wanted to run a +40 offset upfront,
but the guy selling me the rims has it in a +52. I've been
trying to find a deal on these rims for a REAL long time.
the rears are 18x9.5 +34, so im not too worried about those.

i've done some research, and i see that people recommend
using the spacers that have studs built in. are these really
safer? or will getting longer studs work just the same?

http://www.optionimports.com/kiwhsp5x1115.html

im thinking about getting these, but wont the stock studs
interfere?

A lot of people use spacers without issues. IMO, I would have no problems running spacers on the street. However, I would find a better fitting wheel for the track.

Will +34 offset with 9.5 in the back be an issue without rolling fenders? im trying to get as much lip and concave as possible.

from what i hear and from what i've read, you dont need to roll fenders.
but worst case scenario, it MAY require slight rolling, depending on suspension
and camber

I don't think so, since the guys with the 5zigen FNO1R guys get away with 17x10 +35 offset with a 255/40-17 tire. I think you can get away with 18x9.5+34 only if you use a smaller 255/35-18 tire. Kind of small, but maybe a 265 might fit.

yea i was planning on running 255's all around. I was just more worried about not clearing the brakes in the back because of the offset.
