18x10 with stock suspension and no rolled fenders?

Sorry to post about wheel fitments as I know they've been discussed ad nauseum on here. However, I've spent a couple hours searching and reading, and I wanted to see if someone can answer my question directly.

I want to get as wide of wheels as I can get for my FD, given the restrictions of:

- Same size front and back
- Stock suspension
- No rolled fenders

A lot of threads (https://www.rx7club.com/suspension-w...ide-fd-892901/) point out that I should be looking at 18x10 +50 wheels (probably CCWs) with 285/30-18 tires. This seems to be a pretty common setup, and I've found people mention that they've run it without needing to roll their fenders (https://www.rx7club.com/wheels-tires...k-lips-870121/), but I've also found a couple people mention that you should need coilovers to have enough clearance on the inside.

Has anyone ever fit 18x10 +50 wheels with 285/30-18 tires on an FD with stock suspension?

Thanks!

Stock ride height you will probably be ok but for insurance sake I would remove the small 10 mm bolt on the top underside of the wheel it is always in the way and gets caught and pulls the fender with wide front tires.

Fronts are the challenge with space with a wide tire but are easier to roll, the rears are harder because they are double walled but you may not need to roll at all because you have more room to work with.

I'd expect you'd need a roll up front. I have this wheel combo for autocrossing, based on the common info that this is the largest 'square' setup we can get away with. Common info is that you will need coilovers to clear the inside of the fronts. Believe this one, the stock springs are larger diameter than coilovers. My setup includes coilovers, and a bit of lowering.

I then found that not all 285's are created equal. The BFG G-Force R1's have squared off tread, and a notably larger tread width than other tires. The fronts rubbed on the outside and the inside (with turns) and straight ahead with bounces in the road. The rears rubbed on the inside - I added a 3mm spacer and they rubbed outside on the fender lips. Yes - 3mm!

My solution? Switched to Hoosiers with a more rounded shoulder. 285/30's fit fine (but tight) in the rear, no spacer required. I chickened out in the fronts and went down a size to 255's - no more rubbing!

Moral - it's really close! I'd plan on rolling the fronts, and fitting coilovers. Stock ride height will help too.

Why do you not want to roll the fenders?

Thanks everyone for the replies! I ended up ordering the wheels from CCW with some Potenza RE-11s, and I'll post back here about what I had to do to make them fit. Interestingly, the CCW guy said that they round +50 to +51 to have an even 7.5" backspace, so I'm curious if all the people running +50 CCWs are actually running +51s.

My reluctance with rolling fenders is due to having an annoying time rolling the fenders on an old Mitsubishi Eclipse I used to own as well as having an aftermarket paint job on my FD that's more prone to damage. I've resigned myself to probably having to deal with rolled fenders and/or spacers, but we'll see what happens.
