18's up front and 19's in back?
I was just wondering if anyone runs 18's up front and 19's in the back on their FD's, and whether or not there would be any advantages or disadvantages to this. One disadvantage I can think of, is that you wouldn't be able to rotate your tires. A lot of FD owners run different widths anyways though. Anyone? Thanks!

I run 285 30 18's also.
The reason here is the overall diameter. Its almost perfect as compared to the stock 16 inch tire/wheel overall diameter do to the gearing, fitment etc.
a 19 inch wheel would still be ok if you could find a tire size that would have a short enough sidewall that would measure an overall diameter of 24.9 inches.
As far as I know they dont make 19 inch rubber that is in the correct widths.

I'm with "rynberg". I can't think of one good reason why anyone would run 18s up front and 19s out back. An 18" combo wheel and tire is already heavy and expensive and it detrimentally changes the ride, acceleration, and handling, 19" even moreso.

It wouldn't be any different than the reasoning for running a 17/18 combo, and in fact would look better because the difference in diameter between 18/19 is smaller than 17/18.
Asthetically speaking, when I went 18", I personally avoided the 285/30 rear because i think it looks silly... the stock diameter looks too small when plus-sized and pushed out (the stock wheels are tucked WAY in). I think people obsess WAY too much over matching the stock diameter.
For the street, I didn't want the 285/30 because the sidewall is so small, the ride suffers.
For straight-line traction, i'll never forget the difference switching from a 285/30/18 to a 275/35/18 made on my friend's 800-horsepower supra. The tiny 30-series sidewall was like a skateboard wheel... the 35-series was a significant improvement.
All that said (sorry for rambling)... 18" I think is the best compromise all around... makes the car look modern, and at least with my combo, I don't feel as though i've given up anything.

Here is the advantages of 17s:
Better tire selection
Tires are cheaper
Less rotational diameter means that the wheels will slow you down less
advantage of 18's:
they definitely look cooler
bigger diameter means you can put huuuge big brake kits that wouldn't fit with 17's
anything else you guys can think of?

I really like my 17/18 combo. Car handles well and it really fills the tire wells up nicely. I'll be tracking my car within a month and will have a better understanding of the handling characteristics then.
