Should fit depending on offset and tire size.

I have 17x8 all the way around +35 and +30. Checkout the Tires,Wheels, Suspension section of the forum theres a ton of info in there regarding this issue.

Keep the tire sizes the same all around on your car to keep the cars awesome balanced handling, unless you have TOOOOOOOOONS of power and need all the tire that you can.

Also try to find as lightweight of a wheel as you can afford/find. Looks are good, but this is one place where you can actually make your car perform worst.
This can improve, acceleration, handling, braking and fuel efficiency.

However, series 4 (87-88) turbo ii wheels are the heaviest of the 2nd gen rx-7 wheels. They weigh in at 24lbs for 16x7.
Stock third gen wheels are 16x8 and 12.5lbs for the early 93's and 15lbs for the later ones.

I like to keep the wheel width and tire width on par with how mazda had them set up in order to have nice square sidewalls.

205 for 7"
225 for 8"
etc etc. You don't have to do exactly that, but try to stay close. a big wide assed tire on a skinny wheel isnt always as good as some people think.

i highly recommend 98-02 mustang gt wheels. yah, they dont look amazing or anything, but theyre 17lbs and fit perfect (30mm offset). if you dont mind taking a bat to your fenders, you can fit 255/40/17. otherwise 235/40/17 will do just fine without rubbing.
or you could just go huge like me :-)
