go with some 17x10s on the back so you can run 285/35 tires!

why do you want to do this?? less weight?? the weight difference between a 17x8.5 and 17x9 is barely noticable on a scale, let alone on your car. its not worth it. or, do you run the same sized tires front and back??

I would go with one of these combinations:
8.5F 9.5R (this is what I use on the street)
9F 9R (Taz has this size, and you can use the same tires on all 4)
9F 9.5R
The price of the wheels does not change much with width, and you might as well get as much rubber as you can on the road.
