17x8 40 mm FC?

I am lookin to buy some 17x8 BBS rims they come with 215 tires...

my question.. it will be fine for the front and the rear of the car. But if i wanted to upgrade the front wheels to a 225 i would need a small spacer? But the rear would fit fine with 235? or 245?

You will need a spacer in the front. I have 17x8's with a 32mm offset and that's about perfect. There's not even enough room in the fron between the tire and the spring to stick a finger, so 8mm closer and it'll rub. It's also pretty close to the fenders. If you run about a 10mm spacer you should be able to use 225's just fine and with some minor fender rolling and careful selection of tires (some are wider than others) you could likely run 235's. They should fit fine in the back with no spacers, there's lots more room there. You can run bigger rear tires, but you'll just make the car understeer alot more. I reccomend running equal size tires front and back for handling and then you can rotate the tires. I've got some 225/45/17's and they don't rub, even at the track with my 14 year old stock suspension.

I may end up going to the meet, it'll depend on my scedule and such, but probably not. I'm more into racing (track, not street). I'll likely be at a few of the okanagan miata club autocrosses over the summer with my dad (he's got a yellow 92 turbo miata, I'll be there with my FC).
