For the sizes you mention...
32mm for the 17x8 for the front
38mm for the 17x9 for the rear (with room to spare)
I have pictures of my SSR's on my FD that I can send you to see "stance" provided with those sizes and offsets.
Cheers.

I have SSR Integrals for my FD as well with 17x8.5 +32 in the front
17x9 +38 Rears. I guess the rears will fit fine, but what about the fronts?
I have Tein HA coilovers so wasn't too worried, but before I drop 8 hundo on tires I wanted to make sure.
245/45's front and 265/40 rear.

You people are on crack....you shouldn't be running any wheel with an offset below 40. Not only will it most likely rub, but it has negative effects on the scrub radius and the wheel bearings, etc.
There are proven fitments, look in the suspension archives.

Rocketship,
What tire sizes are you running?
My bad on the earlier post, I have the same rims you do, but wanted to minimize understeer by putting 245 on the front instead of 235. Was planning on 265's for the rear

If you look at the picture in post above, the tires in photo are Yokohama a032 255/40 rear and 225/45 front. In the same quest as yourself for less understeer, I went with the 245/40 in the front and remained at 255/40 rear (Toyo T1s- nice tire btw)
I could have simply softened the front roll bar (read; go back to stock as I have stiffer rear and front bars) but preferred trying the fatter tire route because I kind of like the flat cornering feel of a kart. The fatter (also "fresher"- because the A032 were "stale") tire did help to "neutralize" the handling. In fact, one can rationalize staggered setups in the quest of a safe handling car (slight understeer), but I would be ready to try the same size tire all around now (different rims of course). Tire rotation would also become a possibility and could be seen as money in the bank.
For your 265 in the rear, that would certainly be possible, but you'd be going the wrong way in improving your quest to neutral handling.
Cheers,
David

Awesome, Thanks David.
I am with you 100% on the handling notes. Kind of makes me wish I had found 4 17x9's instead of the staggered set up. I think I will go with 245's on the front and 265's on the rear. If I hate it, I can throw a racing beat rear sway bar on...

Tiger,
Sounds like you've got the picture.
Note, I am not unhappy with the staggered setup... it just seems that I always want what I don't have.
All the best to you.

Boy you all are confusing me more by the day. I was told by Rynberg that you cant not run a 38 off set in the front, even with coilovers, but you all are saying you can and it is proven. Some body is telling a little white lie. come on guys cant we agree to anything. I am getting ready to get rid of some rezax roar rims from japan that cost me 1500 used because the off set is 38 in the front and 43 in the rear. I also bought Hks hypermax to help with the 38 off set but rynberg said it would not work and I think he is in the wheel bussiness. Any feed back on this?

v8eater: Your Rezax Roars WILL fit. Me and "ptrhahn" are both running Fikse wheels with a +37 offset up front. Proof in the pudding?

I took my wheels off yesterday because I will be getting new tires put on. I never did take pics and I'm too lazy to put my wheels back on just for that reason, but I assure you, they fit just fine.
+43 out back works just fine as well. No worries!

offset is almost doesn't matter if you don't know the wheel width (i understand that it was stated in this case). saying anything under +40 is too much isn't really the case. example: the stock wheels and 8 +50, they stick out from the hub 5.16mm. my wheels are 9.5
+ 40, they stick out frome the hub 8.06mm, no rubbing. 8 +36 stricks out 6.56.

98 Type RS: There is no way in hell you are running 9.5" +40 offset wheels up front. Not unless you have fender flares or other bodywork done. And your math is completely wrong. A 9.5" +40 wheel will stick a whopping 29mm further out toward the fenders than the stock 8" +50 wheel. Are you sure you're not measuring the ACTUAL wheel width vs the NOMINAL wheel width? For example, I'm running NOMINAL 8.5" wide wheels up front, but they are ACTUAL 9.5" wide.

rynberg, sorry for the confusion, those are supposed to be cm not mm. in that case if you subtract 5.16cm from 8.06cm you get 2.9cm. yes i know a lot more about wheels than i do spring rates. that is the nominal measurement (not including the lip). no body mods, no rubbing, i'll try to send pics. if i could e-mail them to someone that would be better.

Ok I just installed the HKS hypermaxII Damper and I adjusted it just it at stock I have 17x9 in the front 225-45 with 38 off set. 17x10 in the rear 255-40 with 43 off set it seems to do just fine so far just finished it to day. Do you think I could get a 235 45 and a 265 40 for the rear?

I have Rezax Roar 17x9 on the font and 17x10 on the back of my FD. Both with 35 offset. Had to cut and roll the front fenders. Did nothing to the back. Fit fine and drive awesome.
