Question 17 vs 18s?

I would like some advice on wheel sizes. Oh and I tried a search but the forum won't let me search on 17 or 18 since it doesn't meet the 3 character length.

Anyway, I am from the Pittsburgh area, which has a fair share of pot holes. This car will mainly be driven on the street with maybe 2-3 track days a year. I figure 17s might give a little softer ride and 18s will look better but I have not experienced either so I would like some more info. Can you tell a big difference with ride quality? If I can find 18s used at a good price should I get them over 17s?

Thanks for the help.

Stay with 17s, specifically 9 or 9.5 x 17s with 255/40-17 tires all around, 40 to 50 mm offset wheels. Best setup for both road/track use, IME.

If there are a lot of potholes, I would stick with your stock rims. If you can easily go around them, I would suggest 18's. 17's are nice, but personally, I would go with 18's.
