18s rear and 17s front

Just wondering if it actually helps at all to have 18s in the rear with 17s in the front? I'm just seeing alot of people doing it, and I'll be buying some 18s pretty quick here on my dd fc t2.

Sorry should of detailed it more. Does putting 17s and 18s on your vehicle make it like better to handle? Or a smoother ride?

So far as I know it only helps in an MR car. With the larger rear wheel the "balance" of the suspension is supposed to be towards the front of the car, IIRC. Its also supposed to have something to do with the smaller rear sidewall, which flexes less than the front tires. BUT its been a long time since I've even thought about doing that (Close to two years), but most of what I remember was not to do it unless its for style.

its all for looks. performance dictates a smaller wheel/tire combo. most people who race say 15's.
your ride will be harsher with bigger wheels. the bigger the wheel, the smaller your sidewall will be.
