15x8's on 1st gen

How much modification would it take to put 15x8's onto an '85 GS. Would I just be able to run tires with a smaller sidewall or do I need to roll the fenders. My suspension is all stock. Also, is there much or a performance gain in handling from a 15x7 to 15x8 and is it worth the trouble of whatever modifications are necessary.

Are you autoxing or just street driving?

For autox you should run some 13x8 wheels with some Hoosiers. hehe.

I'm sure it will require some modification but primarily depends on available tire sizes and profiles for that wheel. What brand wheel are you looking at?

the 15" is not the problem... the 8" on the other hand might be... I doubt there will be any issue with them on the rear, provided you have the proper offset, but in the fronts you're going to more than likely nail the fenders if you turn sharply. There really isn't much space for much extra width up there with the large of dia. wheel.
