Angry 1&1/2" drop too low for tow truck

Well someone got in to my garage and among the things stolen was my spare tire. So wouldn't it be the case I get a flat on the way to work (yeah that was me on the 5)...too low for the tire jack anyhow. So the 1st tow truck calls the flat bed and after I agree he's not liable, we had to use a wooden step ramp to clear the lip of the flat bed and push the car over it and back down afterwards.

Oh man, that is a bummer.

If I get the RS brakes in the rear I might have a spare wheel+tire for sale. I think the spare from the T2 is the same as the FD, too, if you are shopping for one. The only difference I could see was that the FD one is painted yellow while the T2 spare was bare aluminum.

Unhappy Thanks Max

I borrowed a spare, although i'm nervous driving with it. Damn those Yokokamas A032's are almost $300 ea! I'm hoping the insurance will cover the dmaged tire and the spare tire and cd changer that was stolen. You wouldn't think you'd have to set the alarm on in your garage.

I do have to admit it held up excelent on the freeway. The inside side wall was full of holes but the outside was fine (tire was only 1 mo old). When my new Toyo T1s on my Honda blew, there wasn't anything left on the rim when I got to the side of the freeway.

$300 for one tire! Yeow! Check the prices for tires against http://www.tirerack.com/ to make sure they aren't ripping you off. One of my co-workers pad $400 for a 17" Michelin Pilot Sport at the BMW dealer, so watch out for crazy mark-up on tires.

rounded up

Think it was about $250ea for the A032 Yokohama drag 's + $15 m/b + $10 ins. Wheel Warehouse charges double for mount & balance.

i used to dispatch tow trucks, it's amazing how many people that lower their cars get freaked out when we tell them they might get damaged by the flatbed. think about the angle of the bed when it's tilted down to pick up your car!! Some cars don't even have good tie down locations once they are on the bed, you can just about promise them something will get bent or damaged during the tow just because of the way they have to secure the car to the bed.

the worst is the people who have had all their wheels stolen, they are already traumatized, then they demand we send out a flatbed, and are amazed to hear the damage that would cause! hmmmm let's drag your car on the rotors up the bed! (although there is the rare truck with the crane, but i've never seen one here, and i don't think i'd want my car picked up that way anyways)

sorry, bit of a rant there, i guess nobody wants to think about having to get their car towed. just something to keep in mind if you're thinking about lowering!!

I had the same problem, no spare and too low for the tow truck. But my friend had some spare 17" wheels with tires sitting in his garage, so after a few trips back and forth around town, I was able to get my car home. The T2 spare does not fit. It is the same bolt pattern, but it wont clear the brake caliper. You need the yellow spare.

I got a spare tire from ebay (i think), but shipping sucked because it is a weird size package. Buy it locally if you can. And try to get the spare tire hold-down also, or else it will fly around in your trunk. I improvised mine with some plumbing equipment
