[1] Anybody play with stock wet struts?

I know you can alter the damping properties of the stock wet struts in a 1st-gen by changing the shock oil. I've heard conflicting information, though, on what weights to use. I've heard some people say to try and use 20-weight shock oil and others say to try using ATF or 10-weight because any thicker than that and the shocks will "blow off" veary easily.

I'll probably start off with synthetic ATF and go from there, but I'd like to know if anybody else has played with this.
