SAFCII help: tps voltage wrong

the afc is installed. we started the initial set-up. when we got to the "check sensor voltage" part, it tells us to check the throttle position sensor voltage at closed throttle and at wot. i know that it shoud read approx. .5v at closed throttle and approx. 4.5v at wot. the afc reads 4.5 volts at both wot and at closed throttle. i rechecked connections and made sure that i spliced into the correct wire at the ecu. if the afc manual is right, then i got the right wire. so i backprobed that pin at the ecu and it still read 4.5v. what should we do?

well I would isolate the problem. I would check to see if the tps is bad by ohming it out. basically set the multimeter to check ohms and then slowly press the button if it moves from 1ohm to 4.5-5 ohms without any problem then you know you have a good tps however if there is hickups and other problems when pressing the botton then it most likely is your tps.

Test the TPS. The resistance should be about 1K at closed throttle, and increase past 5K at about 1/4 throttle.

Of course, this is assuming that you really have it connected right.

The wire your picking off should be green/red. At idle it should read approx 1 vdc.
