HKS AFR v. Apexi SAFC

I need alittle help on deciding on which A/F controller to go with. I am only looking for maybe 250-70hp so that is why I am looking at these two as my options.

I notice many people are running the SAFC on there vehicles. Some have mentioned that the SAFC is better than the AFR. Can anyone here explain what makes the one better than the other?

The HKS Super-AFR is about 5 years out of date, technologically. The Super-AFC does everything it does and a lot more. Part of the reason HKS suddenly cut the price of the AFR a few months back .

Can you give me examples of HOW it is better? I just read some where that the AFR has 8 points of adjustment just for idling purposes, plus the 11 others.. and the SAFC did not have that or atleast that I could fine anywhere..

The manuals for both units are online -

http://www.hksusa.com
http://www.apexi-usa.com

The HKS has a simple LED interface instead of a full graphical interface, which makes toggling through settings a pain. The Super-AFC lets you tune by throttle position, which I don't think the HKS does.

Read both manuals and you'll see the differences.

I have a 87 TII, so I would need a second TPS to run it properly anyways, I am probably going to run it off of boost side..

They only have the SAFC not the SAFC II

I recently put the SAFC2 in my SR powered 240SX. The manual is poorly written but he wiring directions sre pretty good. I used a MAP modification instead of wiring to my TPS because I want boost to determine my Low and High throttle %. Read this article for an explanation.

The SAFC2 also has input for knock so you can monitor those levels.

The only "tuning" you can do with the S-AFC in relation to the throtle position is the switching points between the HI and LO correction settings. The HKS AFR accutally has an accelarator pump function/correction factor.

My vote goes for the HKS AFR. Even with the LED display, I feel it is the better perfomance peice, however the S-AFC does get my vote for the "Best Rice Appeal" for it's "interface"

So since my car is equiped with a knock sensor, I can use it and get readings from the SAFCII?

What/how does this work on the HKS AFR? So is this better on the AFR?

My vote goes for the HKS AFR. Even with the LED display, I feel it is the better perfomance peice, however the S-AFC does get my vote for the "Best Rice Appeal" for it's "interface"
Do you have a HKS AFR now? If so can you give me alittle more inof on how you like it and using it?
