Sean or Ryan,
This question was raised regarding the 500 SP turbo kit I received.....
"since when did A-Spec start using precision turbos in the 500R kits???
I always thought they utilized Garret turbos for their kits??? "
Can you answer for me?
Thanks and regards
Niles

I had serious back order issues at the beginning of the year. It has caused me a serious amount of headache trying to keep up and made me look bad as well as let a lot of customers down, which I never like to do. If I screw it up it's one thing and I own up to it but when your told one thing and you relay that to your customer and then it's not what they tell you, you(I) get to look like a real ***. I'm not going to lie about it it has seriously stressed me out this year. I never like letting people down.
If you remember in our last conversation. I had told you I had sent out a turbo to you that I think would better suit your application. I have had excellent results with that turbo and I know for a fact you wont be disappointed.I did that because at that time they kept telling me "two more weeks" I can't tell you how many times I heard "two more weeks" Only to have to then relay that to customers who I'm sure is saying you just told me that. At that point I'd rather get something in your hands that will meet all your goals get you in your car and put a smile on your face.
All that aside kit orders and turbo orders are now starting to move better again. Some are moving quicker than others. But things have started to move smoothly.

Niles, I have used parts from both companies this past year due to neither supplier, A)precision and B)garrett MD not being able to meet my orders. While I don't like to do that if I don't need to, sometimes I have to. This time around, some people were let go at both companies as well as their suppliers expecting the worse in the economy and it wound up they were then short handed severely.

I am sure you can provide a customer service number for both companies so people can call themselves and get the explanations from the both companies first hand why the turbos are back ordered. I have heard of people waiting something like half a year or something crazy like that.... that should not be acceptable, that is a very long time to wait...
I think the phone number is the least you can do for the people that have been waiting that long, its not like you are giving then a number of a secret organization, CIA, NASA.... it shouldn't be that difficult...

Actually I could gladly have them call my customers as they have offered to in the past thank you, and in some cases I have asked them to. The only person that waited way longer than normal was a trade transaction not a cash transaction. As soon as I was aware of what went down. I addressed it as he stated. Also I have some people that put stuff on hold and others who change orders after stuff has already been made so they get bumped back to the end of the line. As in most cases what you "hear" and what actually went down are two entirely different things. Hi larz long time no talk.

Make an assessment...

^Are you talking about the 500R? It IS on their site. Now if you're referring to breaking it down between the 500R-SP and 500R-HP, I don't believe it's broken down like that, but I haven't been on there in a while either.

Hey Sean, I'm going to need a new turbine housing and would like to get my turbo inspected. Could I buy the turbine housing since if I remember correctly you said this was a special one and have it inspected by a local turbo shop or do I have to send it to you guys?
Word of advice guys, if your gonna track turbo's at high boost, do not run a blanket....

The internal part of the housing has flaked away and warped and cracked. When the turbo was removed to have the flange remachined (which warped and blew out the gasket too), the turbine housing was cleaned up and when re-assembled the turbine was slightly touching the inside and had to be machines away. Inside the housing i can see cracks and pieces where they're shouldn't be. Outside there is a crack as well. Earlier in the season the weld between the housing and the downpipe-side flange also cracked and had to be rewelded. Also, had the bolts snap that hold turbo to the manifold at some point and then upgraded to bigger studs. Just constant issues of metal/iron failing due to heat. The turbo still works fine but is now laggier then it was due to the clearances being so big now internally.
