Hmmm, that's weird about the rtek reading off. Maybe air in the system like you say... or maybe the sensor? This is looking great Alan, i can't wait to see it at a meet next time I can make one, lol.

Found a huge pressure leak at the TB elbow this morning. I ordered new o-ring for the TB. It will not be in until Monday, so I put rtv on the elbow and will let it set up and then test the rest of the intake track. It looks like the powder coating caused imperfections on the mating surfaces. I may have to take it all apart again to get all mating surfaces machined flat. I think the coolant sensor wire connection is not seated good or pin pushed out a little. Easy fix I hope.

Well, the new Mazda o-ring for the TB to Greddy elbow still leaks but not as bad as before. I will be surface grinding the elbow which was powder coated and hopefully it seals completely.

Hope that it works out, I know that it's very frustrating but it's worth it.

I took the Greddy elbow to machine shop today to get it surface ground. $20 more wasted. I will pick it up tomorrow to see if it cures the boost/vac leak.

Angry

Still leaking. The car idles great with a low vacuum 12in. no miss fires, when going into boost only makes around 5-6psi. When I pressurize the intake with a pressure tester set to 5 psi, I hear a leak around the TB. I can feel the leak with my hand around the mounting nut for the greddy elbow to TB area. I'll keep looking.

That really sucks Allan, I hope that you finally find that leak. Mine is in pieces and I dropped a bolt into my primary turbo, big fun!

I smoke tested intake and the only leak I could find was some stupid vent for the double throttle plate shaft on the fire wall side of the TB. Ive been chasing this leak and thought it was the greddy elbow to TB the whole time and it was this stubid leak that mazda made there. Back to square one.

Update: I pulled the wastegate hose off and took her for a spin and it boosted good. I will reattach the hose and adjust the wastegate arm too give it more pressure and then retest. I will work on finding the vac week this weekend.

Bought a 302 today. Hooker headers, malory, fordracing heads. Should be running for next week meet.

I have to take her apart again. Those coolant ports on the lim are leaking internally and externally. I so done with those ports, they are getting deleted with 20mm freeze plug and I will tee off the rear iron to send coolant to the turbo. Im getting the powder coatings removed from all mating surfaces by a machine shop to eliminate all vacuum leaks. I dont plan on doing this until after the next DFW Rx7 meet. Come out and see it bofore it goes under the knife again. 302 was other winter project, sorry if I scared ya'll.

Long overdue update. All oil and water leaks are fixed on the turbo. I found better o-rings for the LIM coolant ports. The oil return line I got from Himni racing failed (cooked and cracked), so I put the stock one back on. The turbo is still giving me boost issues, wastegate opening issue. I added a helper spring and so far so good. Hope to see ya'll soon.

Well, all is good. I took the 7 up to Rotary Performance and tested it on the dyno. No boost leaks and wastegate is holding 10psi all the way to redline. It put down 271.9 Hp at 10psi 7000 rpm, AFR's were high 10's low 11's. I wanted to up the boost to 12, but Chris talked me out of it, due to the engine is still untouched from the factory. Once I feel like rebuilding it, I will push it up to 14psi. Cheers
