I don't see how that is possible. The airpump is needed to duct fresh air into the cat. This helps make sure the cat is nice and hot so the catalyst can do its job. The extra oxygen helps burn off any unburned fuel. Run without the airpump your going to screw up your cat.

Both the cat and the airpump are equally important in passing an emissions test. You can't pass if you are missing either of them.

I don't believe you. Not for a second. You either didn't need a sniffer test or it wasn't your car that was on the sniffer.

Dont know how truly is this but i heard that 7's with stand alone can make their car go so lean that it will pass emissions with no problems.
and also with some piggy back ecu(apex-i)

Im my case i always go to that dude who does it no matter what.
there is always one like that in every town.

Does anyone have connections with someone 'nice' in the area that does testing? I'm looking at getting my new FD registered but I can't do that until I pass a Texas inspection.

Feel free to PM me with the name/number if you don't want to post it here

if you lean it way out, doesn't the NOx just skyrocket?

i don't see why people can't just put a cat/airpump on for inspection and then yank it off if they think its killing power. its really not that big of a deal to do.

Its a big deal if your single turbo kit doesn't have room for one.

I have stock intakes ports with mild exhaust ports, GT35R, and stock air pump with the air routed directly back to the MP or high flow cat. I pass when the cat is in the car. I did a self engineered adaptation for the air pump to fit with the single, but then I am a true mechanic.

Use an GM electric air pump for testing.

I've done it.

I've done it.

I've got an FD with stock twins and downpipe (still have the cat though), and no Air Pump. Even worse, it's a ported motor.

I have a PowerFC and have my car tuned on the lean side when it's not boosting (no reason to waste gas anyways). The Hydrocarbon levels on the emissions test were a bit high, but NOx was almost nonexistent.

If you want my map, let me know.
