I didn't know they had emissions in SA?

Yep, no testing in SA.

We don't have emissions testing here, yet. I would suggest you DON'T take your 7 to the state run inspection stations, the blue buildings. They don't test your emissions but they are very strict, they will actually look under your car to make sure you haven't removed any catalyst. What side of town do you live on?

Ok you are gonna have to be a little more specific. Bexar County basically consist of anywhere out side loop 1604.

OK I have a related question about emissions inspections. I live in Travis CO (austin) which now has emissions testing. My 85 has no cat and surley wont pass. Does anyone know what a S.A. inspection place would say if I tried to get it done outside my county? Im sure they have to be onto that one but I wonder if its worth trying or just lay low for 1.5 more uears until it grandfathers out of emmissions testing?
At least my registration is current...

Dallas and houston have had it for a while, and they recently added Travis and Williamson counties (Austin area).
To the guy with the 85, I believe you can actually get the state to pay for the required fixes to get your car emmisions legal, up to 600 bucks or more. Not sure on deatials, but my father-in-law who works for the city of austin told me about it.

Cool I use live pretty close to there on 1604 and Culebra. ok take culebra all the way down to loop 1604. Take a right onto loop 1604. The first stop light you get to, make a turn around. As soon as you make a turn around get on the right lane and merge onto the access road. Stay on the access road and you will past up a subdivison named Bridgewood and Bridgewood Estates. After Bridgewood Estates on the right side you will see a flat tire repair/Inspection business. Its a metal building with a metal gate. They will do your inspection without any problems. Just make sure your basic features work like your wipers and all your exterior lights. They are really nice people and are about 10 minutes away. Hope this helps you. Tony

That's only true if you're "legally" poor/on welfare. Driving an RX-7 can put you there, so maybe that's applicable.

Wood County and Smith County dont have emissions testing. they just look at your car, drive it for like 10 seconds and you're done! Last time i had my car inspected, the guy didn't even drive the car, coz it's an RX7 and he doesn't know how to drive a stick... hehehehe.

I have a question about registration. I don't have to worry about emmisions but I do have to worry about the title. I bought it from a guy in houston a month or two ago. I finally got a chance to go register it and found out that its still registered in the previous previous owners name (aka.. the guy who owned it before the guy i bought it from).

I'm having a hard time tracking him down and getting a response from him. I think he lives in Alvin or Grapevine or something his names Gregg Porter I think.

If I can't is there any way to bypass that or work around it?

in order to get the state to pay for your emissions fix, you have to have owned the car for two years with it inspected and registered as well. if not you have to fix it yourself. otherwise you pay something like the first 50 or 100 dollars and the state covers the rest.

You would have to get a bonded title, would cost you some bucks.. The fee is different depending on the value of the vehicle. Is the title signed over to the person that you purchased it from? Do you have the Title?
