Texas Engine Swap Regulations?

Does anyone have a Cliff Notes version of Idea of the way the state of Texas views non-original engine swaps when it comes to smogging the vehicle?

Thanks

Jack

Jack,
Texas is a pretty engine swap friendly state. I managed to get my LS1 FD inspected and tagged no problem.

Just a few general points about my inspection experience.

Maybe so, but it's one of the things they checked when I had the car inspected.

I don't even think the place I used to take it to would notice if the engine was swapped.... He didn't check for a cat and I had an obvious exhaust leak, but I still passed.

The inspector can refuse to pass the car if the back up lights don't work. It happened to me in my 1968 Firebird. To pass, I had to get a NOS part off eBay since this is not an O'Reilly's or Pep Boyz part and it is no longer kept in any GM warehouse. Luckily, the bidders on such a part are a very thin crowd.
