Side housing lapping in DFW area?

I'm looking for a place in the DFW area that will lap side housings?? I know racing beat and Mazdatrix do it, but I'm trying to save some money in shipping those heavy peices.

Thanks,
JC

Gotham doesn't do it. Anybody know of a machine shop that has a horizontal lapping machine big enough to do housings.

I called RP as well and they don't do it either. The only places that I've found is Mazdatrix and Racing Beat.

I'm one of the owners of Gotham, and we don't do them in house.

Years ago I found a place in the D/FW area, and they lapped my irons, did a great job.

A had a friend get it done for me, I can try and get back in touch with him and find out where they are located.

I would appreciate you looking that up for me. When you find out, post here. I'm sure there are others that could use the info.

Thanks,
JC

unfortunately, they don't do business to the public. strictly to only businesses. Unless you want to spend $2k with them, they probably won't look at you.

well, we still have an account with them but they wanted to do at least a min of 2 engines so unless I have another set that needs lapping, they won't do it. Also, it could take them a few weeks to do it depending upon their schedule......

You may want to give these guys a call. They're out in wylie and do good work.

If they can't do it.. they may be able to point you in the correct direction.

Eventhough they are mainly a corvette shop, they've done work for me before... and are really friendly.

What does Gotham's place charge? I've got a couple sets of sidehousings I need lapped, so provided it's not too pricey I could throw those in for their group run.

PS - what do you guys do about that oil overflow (or whatever the hell it is) on the center housing? Do 13B's have that, too, or is that just a 12A thang? I know the piece on my race engine has that filled... don't know if it's welded or JBWeld or what.

The coolant nipple? FDs don't have that.

Last I checked, it was around $40/surface so you're looking at around $160 give a take a few dollars since I don't know the exact price.

As long as it's less than $50/side that sounds like a deal to me!

Anybody running from Austin to DFW any time soon?
