San Antonio RX-7 rotary newbie seeking help.
Hello, I'm really needing help trying to get the motor to my FC running. We were able to get the engine turning, but it had no fuel in the tank. After pouring in about 5 gallons as well as 2-cycle oil, we tried firing it up again. Nothing happened. So we then replaced the starter. Still nothing. Then replaced the fuel pump, however it seems there's a wiring issue with the fuel pump. I'm not sure how the wiring works and there is a stray wire and unsure where it connects to. Could also be a faulty coil igniter as well. Not sure.
Any help would greatly be appreciated. Trying to find someone to come and take a look at it, give me advice, knowledge and assistance on getting it fired up. I live in the NW side of San Antonio, in between 410 and 1604.

What year is the car? If it is an 89 or later then you can jumper a wire in the engine bay and read the ECU error codes flashing on the check engine light.
Based on the brief description of your fixes you suspect multiple root causes of the no start problem. Your replaced the starter so I assume the engine now turns over well and did not before the new starter. Your description does not really explain what prompted the install of the new fuel pump. The Factory Service Manual (aka FSM, which is available on line) has a test procedure to make sure the pump is working and has adequate pressure.
IMHO - At this point you need to focus on the basics.
1) Fuel - Test the fuel pump per the FSM and if OK then confirm the injectors are working. You can just pull the plugs (move the plug wires away from any metal and crank it there should be a fuel mist out of each spark plug hole.
2) Spark - Make sure you have spark plugs that are firing. You said you suspect the coil? Is the engine firing at all? If not then put a spark tester in a plug wire and see if you have a strong spark.
3) Engine Compression - once you know you have fuel and spark to the engine and it still won't start test the engines compression.
Read/Study the FSM for your specific year. It has trouble shooting procedures once you have the basics covered and the car still won't start.

It's a 1988 FC
we were able to get the engine turning before replacing the starter. After putting in the fuel, it refused to start, fire up, or even turn. Same after replacing both the starter and fuel pump. Spark plugs could be a possibility, the person I bought the FC from said he replaced the spark plugs previous to selling it however I find his word to not be very trusting since he claimed it was a "simple wiring problem" yet the whole engine harness was rigged in an incorrect manner. My guess is that it may still be a wiring issue, but I'm still a newbie with all of this and wiring is really over my head at the moment. I had to have a friend help with that but now he's unsure as to why it still won't turn. We found a wire that comes where the fuel pump is at, but we're unsure as to where it goes.
I'll try giving the FSM a look through.

Do you know for sure the motor was running and is in good shape? Could be a lot of things, hard to tell over the interwebs. Check fuel pressure/spark... heck it may be flooded.
FSM and Haynes manual for the FC are both handy to have.
Also go on the local RX forum... lots of knowledgeable ppl on there... alamomotoring.com

Where exactly on the NW side? I live off Blanco and 410. And if your willing to hire someone I have a good friend who builds, tunes and works on RX-7s and I'm quite sure he could make a housecall to help out.
Might want to compression test the car before going any further to make sure your getting compression. then check.
