RX-Club of Houston Monthly Meeting - December 2nd 2008

The December meeting will be held at Freebirds Burritos located on Greenbriar @ Shepherd near US - 59.

We will also be holding our annual Toy Drive and Donation drive to benefit the Houston Ronald McDonald Houston.

Below is a brief description of the Santa Store concept and the items needed this year.

"The Ronald McDonald House provides families the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful Christmas with gifts while being away from home at no additional expense.

- The Community Room is transformed into a Santa Store filled with wonderful new gifts and goodies for all ages. Volunteers set up the Santa Store and arrange gifts in sections by gender and age for easy shopping. Santa Store opens two weeks before Christmas and is staffed with smiling Volunteers ready to assist and provide gift-wrapping.

- Parents are able to visit the Santa Store to select gifts for their Children.

- Children visit the Santa Store with a Volunteer escort to help select the perfect gift for their parents and siblings.
NEW gifts are needed for ALL AGES, including premature infants, teenagers, and adults before December 7th. Below is a sample of items needed for the RMH Houston Santa Store:

- Infants – Toys, gift baskets w/pacifiers, rattles, bottles, blankets
- Toddlers – Toys
- Children – Toys, sports related items (please no Play-dough or games with small pieces)
- Teenagers – Jewelry, DVD players, DVD’s, CD’s, Purses, wallets, sports items, electronic hand games

Greetings everyone,

Just a reminder that the December Meeting and Ronald McDonald Santa Store Charity Donation Gift Drive is this coming Tuesday.

Please take a moment and let us know if you are coming out to the meeting. So far we have more Mazdaspeed guys RSVP'd than actual rotary guys.

Thanks!

Freebirds has been one of our main hangouts since Prince's closed/burned down.

I think we first started going there in mid-2002.

You did not mention my old face (63).

Allen did say the car does run better and he has improved the idle. He is now the pull start king.

Pics posted...

Despite the lack of pics there were 4 or 5 RX-8s at the meeting. A couple of the guys left early for other holiday engagements and I was so busy handling things I didn't get around to snapping many pics until later.

http://www.houstonrx8club.com/events/2008/120208/

Thank you guys who came out and supported the effort, the staff, volunteers and patrons of the Ronald McDonald's House appreciate our efforts. Someone counted 32 people at the meeting and we had nearly 100 gifts in all to donate to the Santa Store!

I hope to see you guys in January. Next year we are moving the meetings to second Tuesday instead of the first Tuesday. Additionally we are having our Beer, Babes and Bullets Run at the end of the month. Details coming soon.
