TX RX-7 Suggestions, All Welcome! Please Post Your Opinions!

Ok, so right now, I'm leaning towards a 13B Single Turbo conversion. Through Rotary Performance in Garland, all in all would be around $8k-$10k. Including, the biggest turbo kit, T88, Power FC, and thats basically throwing in all the support mods like the intercooler, downpipe, and more then likely, all the Stage 1/2/3 installations.

Here's the catch, I'm not sure if I really want to go the RP route, due to the fact there so expensive. On the other hand, I'm not sure the compression on my motor, and would take me a lifetime to install and work on the motor myself. Which I could possibly do, with the right guidance, videos, and manuals. I really dont have a place where I can tear it down to work on it either, which is another problem. It is in a garage, but space is limited.

Buying used parts from forum members, Turbo kit, supporting mods, etc etc.. How much cheaper could I possibly get away with?

Also, I wouldnt mind meeting a few of you guys if you'd be willing to help me in the future as well! Matt a.k.a BlowenByTwins actually came out and met me once, a while ago when he still had his Twins and 99 spec wing, which was a while ago.

Opinions?

If you cant build it yourself, prepare to pony up the cash.

Right. I'm just wondering what the cost difference would be. Just like a rebuild, I wouldnt know the first thing to look for that needed to be replaced once the motor is torn down.

I'd say if you know what you're doing the cost differance would be about half
You're still going to spend 4k or so if you rebuild your motor yourself, buy a powerfc, fmic, turbo, exhaust, and all other supporting mods.
If you don't know what you're doing, it could cost double, but you'll still have more fun and throbbing fingers.

Haha! Definitely appreciate the feedback! I'd honestly be looking forward to rebuilding (If it needs it) or modifying my RX7 myself. I would just need some guidance, but I think I could do it.

So, your lets say, "Guestimating", 4k for rebuild and single turbo? I know the Power FC will run me about $800, Rebuild kit, if needed would run me about $1300, and Turbo kit, which would roughly $2k depending on where I bought it, I'm sure I could find a good one on here, FMIC would be around $1k unless a forum member has one for a better price.

I'd like to make 500hp give a little.. not a take, lol. What Turbo do you suggest I try to get my hands on?

Don't forget about flywheel and clutch. ..
Im sure 7dust will chime in about the cost, as he's been there and got the tshirt several times over.
As for what setup to run, that depends on a lot of factors. You should do a lot of reading in the third gen and single turbo sections.

So I'm guessing right about the 500hp mark you gotta change out the flywheel and clutch? What about the transmission, I know the FD can handle quite a bit before having to upgrade it.
