Rotary Repair Shops in Dallas or Austin?
I had a friend of a friend ask me for a recommendation on shops that could swap/install an engine in his '85 RX-7. I don't think he is looking for a performance build, just a competent rebuild for a daily driver. I'm new to rotaries so I don't know any of the local shops except what I've seen posted about Gotham and Rotary Performance. Do these places to 'stock' engines or only performance builds?
Any reccomendations appreciated!

Shops in Dallas
Rotary Mechanics who dont have a shop that specializes in RX7 and Rotaries are hard to find anywhere, but Yes RX-7.com and Gotham will do a basic rebuild no problem. But the fact that you go to a shop like these guys and spend the extra money is going to get you a far better result than paying Joe Schmoe to rebuild your motor and no gaurantee its going to work well and for how long. With Rotary engines especially, its important to have it done right with the right condition parts! I can put a bunch of crappy parts together and buy some cheap gaskets and the motor might last a week or month but it wont be a worthy reliable daily driver. Just thought Id let you know. Good Luck
Dallas will probably be your best bet, but if you want to try Austin (or Round Rock specifically) John Long at JcAutoSpec does great work and knows his stuff, he's one of, if not the only decent rotary guy in this area. www.jcautospec.com and tell him TexasRxs referred you

Chris Taylor of taylorrotorsports.com is in the Austin area and he does rebuilds on 12a's. I don't think RP works on 1st gens and Gotham really doesen't either. I know the guy who rebuilds most of the spec7 race cars in the metroplex and can pm you his info if u want it.
