News to me - Pre OBD2 Emissions (New to Texas)
So I'm going to be moving from California to Northern Dallas in the next 3 weeks. I currently have my FD back home in Illinois and will eventually be bringing it down. I decided to do some research ahead of getting out there and I'm looking to confirm a couple things.
In Denton County, it looks like I'm going to need to do the following before I can register the vehicle
1. a safety inspection and
2. the ASM test (accelerated simulator mode) for all vehicles pre-1995
3. form 130-U
Currently have deleted air pump along with no pre cat and in need of a tune. (Illinois doesn't care about anything pre OBD2, at least where I am from.) Is a tune going to be able to give me a pass or am I going to have to get a pre cat on there?
Thanks for the help

BUT, what is the manufacture date for your car? My car just turned 25 years in march.
If your car is 25 years old, Texas does not require emissions testing.
And if you want at 25 years, you can get Texas Classic Auto Plates in normal or vanity.
When I finish building my motor I'll let you know what happens! .......Though I plan to be done by October so....Yeah. lol
I was told by DPS that it is supposed to be done by the "year model" of the car. So, if it is registered as a '94, but the build date is '93, you'd still have to treat it as a '94.
By your info a 2002 JDM FD will be 25 years old in 2018. But feds would say no!
Mine was registered as a 93 but the inspection station and tax office went by the date of build, 1992.

Go read the info on the Texas DPS site, as your info is invalid. ALso call your local tax office.

Well at the end of the month I will know, so I can report back to everyone.
I'm just glad that I hung on to my air pump the last few years. Got some work ahead of me.

Been busy busy busy. Haven't even had a chance to do anything about it yet.
Week 1 of moving I had to go back to Illinois to get the car. Week 2 was unpacking and doing a clutch on the g/f's car. Putting insurance on the car as we speak, so hopefully sometime soon.
PS: This just dawned on me. I don't have any control over the air pump. I'm running a Rywire harness.

I've got a legal beagle emissions friendly semi peripheral with a 3.5" hood dump, so it is very doable.
