No; the hood that was "damaged" in the fire was completely destroyed. It was replaced by a brilliant black OEM hood which is displayed in the photos I provided above. The replacement hood is in great shape and condition.

Wrong; the hood and everything fits fine. It was not attached or anything in that photo, just resting there. He had everything attached when I went to look at the car last Sunday and it all aligned and looked great; there are no fitment issues.

Wow, that paint looks excellent. This thing is going to turn out great. Glad to hear the interior was spared (along with the previous driver ).

Post more pics asap!

That's good. I wasn't knocking your baby, I just get nervous when it comes to body shops. My old Mustang went through a body shop a year before I bought it. It came out with dripping paint, mismatched colors, fitment problems and other fun issues. I hope that everything goes smoothly with your car and it comes out looking better than brand new!

Are they blasting it down to the metal and primering it before they apply the new paint?

I didn't mean to sound offensive with my response. I went back and read what I wrote and realise it seemed that way. Again, no hard feelings at all. I have always been known for being extremely straight forward and I also have a VERY dry sense of humor. I have no shame in just telling it like it is. No worries, man.

I didn't get the entire car repainted. The parts that were damaged were completely stripped (to the metal) and repainted properly; with proper blending and prep. The rest of the paint is very glossy and looks new as it was repainted a couple years ago from the previous owner.

Remember, I mentioned that it is a friend of mine that is doing this at his paint/body shop. He knows what he's doing and I trust him. He painted my last FD as well and did an outstanding job. He takes in all the little details; he's an extreme perfectionist as well. I suppose this is a good thing given his business.

Thanks for the input and compliments; I'm ready to drive it now!

Sure.

However, I think Robert called dibs on a cruise first, though. I suppose we could all cruise around.

Got the car back; not the best pics, but here are some updated photos. (camera phone). I'll take some better pics today at lunch with my camera.

Still needs to be put back together, but the paint turned out great.

The "7" is looking good. Your friend did a great job with the paint and bodywork.

Ok, again, not the best photos. Gloomy day today.

I need to fix my gas door, reinstall my spoiler, and possibly buy a new rear valance.

The car is a little dirty from when it sat, plus it has been a little rainy today. I'll have to clean it up sometime and take better photos of it in the light.

I need to get some new taillights, too. As you can see, the pass. side tail has a rough side to it. Those will be replaced with 99' taillights.

I need to work on this sideskirt a little more to sit more flush with the body.

Engine bay with wiring (aka: mess!)

Here is the mess of parts I have in my garage needing to go in. The rest of the engine bay stuff is in the big brown box!

All in all, it's come a long way. You would never think it caught on fire! I can't wait to finish it. I am currently awaiting my check from Uncle Sam (tax return) so I can buy my long block. I'll keep ya'll updated.
