Moving to Dallas

I'm relocating to Dallas from New York next week. What's the emission test like in Texas. What are the requirements to pass? The rat nest has been removed.

car has to be 25 years old to be exempt
but there are plenty of ways to get it to pass, you can always get a waiver from the state.

A waiver? How does that work? Also, I think you can pass without the rats nest, but it takes some work.

to get a waiver you have to fail twice, then call DOT emissions test facility and set up an appointment. they will inspect your car at the facility and when it fails you still get a sticker. thats how I got my rx7 to pass, with out smog pump, and running a haltech

I live in Iowa Park, about 150 north of Dallas. We have no emissions test.

there are places in texas that you dont have to worry about emissions but you have to regsister your car there. You wont pass if you have to do emissions...

you must pay for the original test, and then there is an additional fee when the DOT tests it
