moving to austin
hey everyone! im moving to austin texas around sept. 1st and just wondering what the rotary scene is like there. is there any kind of active club or meetings? i see the sticky up there looks like there is some sort of monthly thing going on. i drive a 87 gxl/TII swap and enjoy staying involved in meetings in the eastern NC area where i live now. let me know whats up!
also, i read something about the texas clean air act? whats the deal with that? i run a straight 3' pipe.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
TexasRXs is the local club. They seem pretty active, but I've never been involved. There's also a yearly BBQ (was?) up North that draws a big crowd from all over.
Can you tell I'm not very up on "the scene"?
If you need any parts, give me a shout when you get to town.
Austin started doing emissions testing about 2 years ago. It's a static test, idle and I wanna say 3k. I know of 2 RX7 folks that have passed with a single cat... one spent a lot of time with ignition and played with pulleys on the airpump, other I think paid somebody off. I ended up just applying for a waiver on a customer car because he refused to spend any money on the thing ( and I mean ANY money on it ) -- I think it limits your driving to around 5k miles/year, which you can do in Austin if you live close to your work.
