That storm surge is going to be a ****. You talk to Phil or anyone else down towards the coast/bay?

Here is another thread in the lounge we've been having: https://www.rx7club.com/lounge-192/hurricane-ike-785758/

Well i have talked to phil on AIM and he has said that the water is all ready pretty high, He is on like a 19ft hill before the cars go underwater, and the house is 3 levels.

If anyone wanted to have a quick look at the weather in the Freeport/Galveston area weather underground is a good place, it shows the local weather stations.

SW Houston area (Meadows Place) was not bad. We only lost electricity for about 12 hours and water for about 7. Most damaage around here is fences and trees.

No power here since late Friday/early Saturday morning.... water pressure is nearly nothing.

A few scattered neighbors have electricity, we are hanging out at a neighbors down the street, her house got power yesterday because it shares power with the local school and grocecry store we understand.

Lots of tress and fences down, some houses have trees in or on them but mine only lost some shingles. DSL came back online sometime today, so I will be checking in periodically.

Talked to Chuck, he is in good shape on a generator although I don't know if he has been to his house yet.

Chuck told me his house and animals are OK. They did not suffer any damage other than no eletrical power to the house..

Gotham is in north Ft Worth, they hardly got a drop of rain there. If their phone is out it isn't because of the storm.

I live in Dallas, about a mile west of I-35E, we got only light rain in the afternoon. The majority of the wet stuff was east of Dallas.

Are you coming down to Houston, because I don't think Dallas is going to need much help.

FWIW - Houston is nearly 300 miles away from Dallas (people not from Texas usually don't realize that)

Ike sucked! We stayed thru the storm and after a couple of days without power we fled to Austin and San Antonio for a vacation. Lost our back fence and had some water come into one of our rooms during the first half of the storm, water was blowing under some shingles/etc.

Damned amazing that a cat 2 could totally shut down Houston. Friends of mine in Kingwood say another two weeks for power and in the Woodlands they are saying three weeks plus. Friends of mine in Katy never lost power or cable, we're moving there long term.

Good to hear you and the family are ok KK, Our neighrbood has power to about 1 in 4 homes, typically in 5 to 10 house sections. We are living with a neighbor right now. I've got power and DSL so it's all good for me.

If you need a hand once you get home, just give me a call.
