Houston (Mutli)Club Picnic ~ July 9th 2005
What: Z Club of Houston presents the Houston Area Import and Sports car-club picnic.
Who: The Z Club of Houston is organizing this event for the Sportscar and Import clubs of Houston.
When: Saturday, July 9th 2005
Where: San Jacinto Battleground Park
Official Announcement:
July 9th, the Z Club of Houston, and their invited guests will be going to the San Jacinto Battleground Park for a good ol’ fashioned PICNIC! When’s the last time that you went on a picnic…complete with ants, flies, and grass stains? Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?
We’ll be relaxing under the Spanish Moss-draped Oak Trees on the Hallowed grounds of the San Jacinto Battleground…the home of Texas Independence !!! Be sure to bring your camera…the day should provide some pretty spectacular photo ops !
More details:
Here’s the plan…
July 9th, we’ll be meeting at Gulfgate Shopping Center, located just inside the South 610 Loop and I-45. Look for Doneraki’s Mexican Restaurant…we will assemble in the parking lot there and caravan to the park. We’ll be pulling out at 10am so make sure to get there early so your ready to roll on-time!
For many, this route will not be convenient logistics-wise, so feel free to just meet us over at the battlegrounds, if you don’t want to caravan over with us.
Who is coming you might ask? The Z Club is inviting several other area car clubs…sports car, foreign, fun, whatever. This is shaping up to be a really big event. Attendees will be setting up camp, to the East of the Monument, on Adam’s Island (and you thought Galveston was the only island around here).
The Z Club will have several members “greeting” everyone as they arrive because they will also be asking for a $5.00/vehicle contribution which will go to our good friends at the Houston Food Bank !!! Feel free to bring along any non-perishable food items that you would like to donate, as we’ll have collection boxes for them as well.
Plans include having a caterer set up, selling sno-cones and nachos in addition to the lunch you pack!
So remember.... No competition, no trophies, just a relaxing day, of kickin’ tires, having lunch with your friends, and swattin’ mosquito’s !
See you there!
P.S. If you know of any cool car club(s) that you think would like to join us, feel free to invite them, or send me a contact email and I’ll send’em an invite !

I arrived near Gulfgate around 10:15 so I just proceeded to the San Jancinto picnic area.
It then started light raining on my just washed and waxed car. Anyway when I arrived at the picnic grounds most of the showups were already there.
Here is the rough approximate car counts from min to max:
2 Panteras.
5 Zs from a 1600 roadster, 240/280/300 to a new 350.
About 8 Lotus; 1 Super 7, 2 Esprit(1 turbo 4, other V8), 5 Elise with one very early model with more tame front and rear bumper setups.
8 Rx7s; 3 RX-8s, my 3rdg, two 2ndg, two 1stg. One 1stg has a 302 Ford V-8 with about 170hp.
About 10 Triumphs; From a Harold to TR2, TR3, TR4, TR250, Spitfire, and Stag.
The Z Club tok a few pictures which should end up on their site.
