Houston area roll call. I need some assistance and advice from you guys please?
Spot on, north side is full of Mexicans, south is black and Hispanic rough neiborhoods.
West is katy cheap houses that all look the same and white, Hispanics and Katrina evacuees .
East is industrialized area for oil and gas and so forth.
West/Central/downtown houston is crazy expensive new construction appealing to out of town yuppies and hipsters.

Just like every other town in the USA, except better.
We have more guns and they are legal.
We can legally drive faster.
We have more and better variety of foods to eat.
We have better looking women.

Our food , social, and business scene is best by far compared to other cities in the south.
Lots of money down here due to oil and gas and energy companies.
I've never had a hard time making money in houston.
Angleton texas! 35 min to the south loop. No city taxes in the county. Plenty of land to build, cost per acre is much better then Houston. Also have MSR Houston just a few mins drive away
I am looking at Katy/Cypress areas.
not sure if I will buy right away I will try it for a year if I don't end up liking it. I will move again 90% chance it will be back to California. We will see but I definitely plan on hitting MSR up at least 2 times a month.
Thank you for the spread map and the advice keep them coming.
Here's an update of the beast.

I'm pretty sure you will like Houston, no shortage of things to do.

I liked Katy, only thing that sucked was the traffic but its much the same everywhere in H-town. Just moved to Conroe and liking it but damn is it far from everywhere, much like Katy.
I would say to aim for sugarland, katy, woodlands, Fairfield, or spring. I think you could get a house that would suit you for around 200-300k. You can get a good feel for how the area is just from google maps street view.
I moved to Houston from Seattle and I love it here.
You are going to move your family some 1800 miles with a 90% chance of moving back home?
ps. car needs more aero.
