Good mechanic for 1985 RX7 in Dallas area?
I have a 1985 1st gen GSL-SE. The last shop I relied on for maintenance won't work on 1st gens any more. Can someone recommend a good mechanic in the Dallas area?
I also need to replace the front seats and repaint the exterior (silver). Would appreciate recommendations for body shops etc as well.
Thanks!

He's got a small (4 car + booth) shop over in Dallas and it's him, his dad and 2 other guys. They did my 2nd Gen race car, mention that and he'll remember.
Sorry no first hand recommendations on shops. I have spoken with and am going to try Motorsports Enterprises next month for some stuff. They are slammed right now though and are a Mazda race shop. Not sure what you need done.

He came highly recommended - he even helped me on the phone once, even though I'd never taken my car there. The last time I referred someone to his site though, they said the phone number didn't work. :P

Don is somewhat MIA right now. He's going thru some tough times. If he ever recovers, he is by far the most knowledgeable person I know in the way of rotaries. He knows every quirk and trick on most every rotary powered mazda product! Like richter mentioned above, he can troubleshoot problems over the phone and usually had no problem spending the time doing it either. I say usually because he doesn't like being disturbed when porting and/or building motors ... understandably.
Anywho, I'll keep everyone posted on his status. Hopefully he'll start up again soon.

Yeah, I heard about some of his troubles... but his shop was open for a little while afterwards.
The shop was near my parent's house.
Sad to hear its closed .

Well, that stinks. It's on the other side of the world (Ft. Worth) but Gotham Racing can certainly work on 1st gens. I'd certainly trust Steve with my GSL-SE.
