Exclamation FYI to DFW drivers

I heard a rumor(although I can't find it) that Dallas County is now making it mandatory for all Cops to pass out a certain number of driving citations every month or they will face disciplinary action and/or termination.

Apparently the city is having a financing problem.

I guess it was on the news, but I can't find anything on the Dallas Morning News about it.

How does that affect us? Well if it's true, cops will now pull you over for anything and everything. They might even had out 4 citations at once.

Just a heads up. Wondering if anyone else heard this?

I don't know if that's true or not, but I've seen a lot more cops of the road recently. And one of them gave me a ticket!!

That's not very nice of them.

I thought they were supposed to "Protect and Serve"?

Then they need to pull over everybody else because not only are there crappy drivers everywhere, but they're in my way and ruining my gas mileage!

22.5 MPG in my Jeep last week! I am mighty happy, considering it's about 75% hwy, 25% city.

PWNED!

I found out my Miata doesn't get much better gas mileage when I grandma it, so now I just drive like a madman and coast up to red lights.

didn't they get rid on a retard cheif of police in dallas for instituting a points system making it madatory for cops to give certain tickets? It was the mayor that had him canned, because it had cops watching traffic instead of crime..

... that was abut 2 years ag, and things do change.

It's all good. We can all joke about it now... but remember - payback is a b!tch.

j/k, I saw "the tree" last night and it is a SAD sight. It looks like the tree from Charlie Brown's Christmas. I'm going to decorate it with lights this year.

Back to the topic at hand, I talked to a friend of mine last night who is an ex-police officer and she said that during the "Click-It or Ticket" program, the cops are supposed to meet a quota. The state gives each department funds to pay for the time the officers spend specifically patrolling on behalf of "Click-It or Ticket." In order to receive the funds, the department has to prove that it is patrolling, i.e. the tickets for offenders. She said that the program is enacted during every major holiday and that's there's a holiday in just about every month. So in a round-about way, officers do have a quota to meet.

On our way to MSR last Friday night (really late) there was a DPS car pulling somebody over every 30 miles, at least. Same thing coming back to Austin.

We'll be travelling the same 60-65 up to Hallett this weekend...
