Moving to El Paso in a week. I'll be bringing my '86 na FC down a week or two later. Reading through this thread it doesn't sound like there's a whole lot of rotary activity out here?

Thank you. I was actually born in the butthole of Texas but had the luxury of moving away before my first birthday and never thought I'd be back. And now here I am...but only for 2 years for school.

My FC is a mostly stock 86 gxl non turbo. It has a full racing beat exhaust system, K&N performance air filter, Hyundai Tiburon wheels, and a JBL sound system. Other than that it's bone stock. I just bought the thing a few weeks ago, and it's currently with Kyle at RD getting new seals and hopefully a set of S5 tail lights. Plans for the first year include an ACT streetlite flywheel and clutch, sparco steering wheel, cusco coilovers and maybe a mazdatrix short shifter, depending on what I can fit into the budget.

hey tin, what you been up to?

i'm still turning triangles here…car has been flawlessly reliable and running good times. i just got back from a nice new years trip to spain so not much has been done to car.
next thing in line for me is a full suspension upgrade, front/rear coil over setup with camber plates and big brake kit and all the good stuff so i can lower it a bit more.

hit me up man.

West works too you just can't stop until you hit Cali. But I guess same goes for East until you get to SA. That's what we get for living in the middle of bumfuck nowhere

I moved to El Paso from Tacoma back in 2006. Boy, what a culture shock. I broke my 2004 STi's JDM front lip on a huge pothole on Fred Wilson; not even five minutes after rolling it off the trailer. Within a week, I had five door dings on my formerly perfect STI from ******** who don't give a **** about their own rides and rogue Walmart shopping Carts!

I don't want to engage in El Paso bashing, but the car scene there is so much different than what I experienced in the NW. It was all about driving in the NW because there are so many great places to do it.

Once in El Paso, I got bored of teenagers in hondas and mustang morons trying to race my STI at stop lights, so I traded it in for a mini van!!!!!! No, really, I did, right before my latest deployment. (I regret it to this day)

Anyway, you could always drive to the New Mexico. I'm sure there has to be fun roads in the hills.

Ask a biker where they go on their cruises. I know my former unit would do cruises into new mexico and based on their comments, I'd say they found some fun roads and nice scenery.

Just watch out for mattresses flying off the back of pick-up trucks on the highway!

If you go up into northern New Mexico it's pretty nice. Even just up to Ruidoso isn't bad. I'm thinking of taking my FC up there soon to look for roads.

And I definitely feel your pain with the STI. There is very little courtesy to be found here. I was (and still am) terrified to take my FC out in town for fear of getting destroyed by all the idiot self centered ******** that drive cars on these roads. It's legitimately frightening. Ive already had a number of close calls and I've only lived here a few months now. Not to mention all the little honda punks. I've never seen so many riced our civics and integras in my life. And I work at Honda so I get A LOT of them. Fake badges, misspelled lettering, completely counterproductive camber settings. I could go on about it all day...
