DFW track day poll

here is the info on the track day, we will put this to a vote, and then tally the votes to make sure we have enough people. the driving time is the same at both tracks

MSR: wait till after May, $195 per person, street or race car, limited to 18-20 people, we will be running with other people, no insurance.

TMS: we can run on Feb. 17th, $225 per person, street or race car, up to 30 people, insurance is $1800 for the entire day for everyone, we will have the track all to our selves.

now vote!

MSR - sounds like thru Apex? I guess 1.7 or 1.3, whatever everyone wants.

TMS - is this through Texas Driving Experience? How many sessions, IIRC they really like to break things up. Most importantly, is this the roval track - meaning we run the oval then come into the infield on the 1 mile road course then back out to the oval like an SCCA race? Or is it just the 1 mile infield road course.

TMS is Texas driving experience, with them we have the track all day, we can set up sessions how ever we want to. but it is the infield road corse, not the roval. (they do not allow beginers on the roval)

at MSR we will be on the 1.7 through Apex

The infield course isn't bad, kind of fun. That's where I got my comp license. My vote is in for TMS and the date is good.

This fell apart. A week ago there were 10+ people interested, now this thread and poll is dead. I'd hate to try and collect funds on this. I think the price is more than people were expecting, but that's the price to play... it's not going to be any cheaper.

Those that want to go out should just pick an Apex day at MSRC and those RX7's that want to go can. I did that awhile back with some guys from another forum with my street car, we had a good time.

I'd recommend doing something along the lines of what SCCAITS recommended which is just choose a weekend when one of the HPDE groups is running and make that the unofficial RX-7 club track day and people just sign up for it as a regular event. I would have people put in the notes section or something that they are affiliated with RX-7 club. That way if a fair number of people sign up you can always talk to the event organizer and see if you can't get a bit of a discount. I didn't vote in this poll mainly because I don't have a car that's track ready at the moment and conflict of interest. Also if you choose a date with a group that isn't posted on their website yet to sign up contact them and see if you can sign up early for it to insure that everyone who wants to come out can on the same day. I know that the Driver's Edge and Apex events fill up very fast once they get posted.
