For the weekday event there will be two instructors available during the run group to ride with folks who want it. However two instructors spread over the entire group doesn't really provide much except bare basics.

The only way to address the issue of mixed skill level would be to have two run groups for the club. This would decrease the total amount of track time down to around 6 or 7 20 minute sessions. Still over 2 hours worth but not the 3+ hours worth if the club ran only a single.

would it be possible to do 2 run groups for the first couple of sessions then in the afternoon combine the groups?

Yes. Although it really won't solve the main issue. Those people who would normally run in an advanced group are still going to be much faster than the rest of the people in the afternoon. While green/novice students do typically improve pretty quickly over the course of the morning they are still visibly slower than the advanced group. You would be better served keeping a dual run group format for the entire day. Also realistically how many advanced people are we talking about? 3 or 4? Chances are high that they could run in the non club (instructor/advanced) group in the two group format. That would preserve the longer track time format for everyone, thin out the club field a bit, and provide them with a fast group all day.

Having two run groups during the day versus three realistically only means you have six instead of 8 sessions and the sessions are just a bit shorter (25 versus 20).

No track.....too busy building motors in my spare time.

Not huge into NFL, but I do like going to games sometimes.

$165 x 16 = $2640, that's what Apex wants for the track minimum.

$2640/12 = $220. We get 12 and only 12 people and have the track to ourselves for a day. With only 12 cars, even the slower ones should not be an issue as there won't be that many and passing will be a snap (on the straights only with a hand signal as I'm sure Apex will require). Plus, people will want to sit out some so there probably won't even be 12 cars on the track. I know I'm not running a full 8 hrs. Forget about sessions, we just have to sit out an hour so safety and others can break for lunch.

Do it on a holiday Monday, isn't Presidents day in Feb?

Then again, if this group wants instruction the above idea doesn't work.

Edit: and if you do want instruction, sign-up for NASA HPDE on March 15/16 at Cresson.

looking at the list, we are probably going to have at least 10 advanced drivers, and I am assuming most of those guys will be in race cars.
(maybe we could have a little sprint race at the end of the day) lol

but I really think it would have to be on the weekend
