I'll be there, just don't remark on my weight gain, I'm very sensitive about it.

^^ Uhhh, thats not exactly the "clam in the sand" I like seeing.... please see post # 2!

Ahhh the air is getting cooler and the 7 "feels" like its running SOOOO much better. I was in a pinch this summer when my beater's engine blew (225K on a 1.5ltr Protege engine.... the heat was too much for it). I was forced to drive the 7 from Denton to Dallas everyday for about a month or so (oh yeah, gas was flirting with $4 then) and she did NOT like the heat and traffic along I-35. Poor girl....

On a side note, I finally moved into a place that has a garage where I can do some repairs, mods, reliability things, etc.... so I figured I'd start with the obvious..fog lights! I know a few of you need to replace your bulbs as well...

I know we need the H3C-55W bulbs, but I have a question about a set I found online.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUPER...QQcmdZViewItem

It says on the listing "Manufactured to OEM specification, no worries about burning out, or wattage overload." But I figured that could just be marketing BS and whatnot. These bulbs are probably sold for use in any number of cars.

What do you think? Safe? I already have Silverstar headlights and would like brighter fog lights as well (mainly just for daytime driving lights). I've never installed any HID lights, but I've heard somewhere on the forum I may need a special kit (wiring, etc) to handle them? Or is that just for the main headlamps?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

Oh, and hope you guys have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

See if you can find an LED variant instead, you won't have to worry about having a ballast and wiring harness for an HID setup and the LEDs will last longer than a Halogen.
*oh you want them brighter... hm... most of the LED fog lights aren't made to be brighter than halogens as a lot of the companies see their LED fogs as "for show."

On their listing (and you can see it in one of the pictures) it sounds like a direct "plug n play" bulb. Those bulbs have the two terminals sticking straight down and the bulb looks identical to the OEM ones on the car now...well, not the actual bulb unit (the top).
So let me ask this.... if you were to install the bulbs, would they still work but perhaps not as bright as if you had all the HID wiring, etc? I don't need these things to be blinding at night, just bright(er). Is this just another one of those "HID bulbs" that really isn't a true HID bulb? I can't tell, because I wouldn't know the differences.

^ looks like a standard 55w halogen dipped in blue... I thought silverstar made h3-55w, I think thats what my supra fogs take.

anywho, I will bring the FB and leave the supra at home.

Basically any TRUE HID are commonly D2S/D2R, D1S/D1R, D4R bulbs. A good way is to look at the fact that that "halogen" bulb has a coiled filament in it. True HID bulbs actually arc in a small "bubble" where a metallic powder is. When this heats up it turns into a gas and emits light.... or something like that. Basically if it doesn't say D2S/R or any of the others I listed, it isn't an HID but rather an HID wannabe.

Here, I found an example pic of a D2 style bulb.

yeah i agree, I think they are just trying to market it very cleverly, by saying, "high intensity" notice they left the Discharge off! they will work fine, not sure how bright they will be though.

Doesn't look like I'll be makin' this one either. The 7 is down while I have some bits made and the MSM is down w/ a split TB inlet pipe untill the new metal one arrives from FM.

This cold weather makes my car act funny. The gas pedal is now an on/off switch. Either no boost and no go, or all boost and wheel spin. Not to mention it takes like 20 minutes of driving to warm up...
