Guys, i have been talking to a few of the guys that i know that have an rx8 and MazdaSpeed series, and i was wonder why we are all so seperated, we are all mazda diehard people, why dont we all have one day of the week for an All Mazda Meetting, one day a month just dont cut it because people just forget about it and never show up. one good location was at Jakes in addison, Why there? well it has good lighting, it has its own parking lot, it has indoor and outdoor in environment , good food, the owner is a car too, and we decide to go to any other place, well addison has everything on the same street (on beltline rd).
I was thinking like every Wednesday 8:30pm- X time, due to every group car meet have other days already on their schedule.

So what do ya think, i will be posting on the rx8 and DFW mazda Forum.

http://www.jakesburgers.net/locations/addison.php

we can star like in two or three weeks just to buy some time for everyone to get the headup on and their input on this idea on every forum.

Why is it whenever anybody wants to meet we have to go to the other side of the world?

Can't we find something in the middle of DFW like say Arlington our Euless?

A lot of the original DFW RX-7 gang quite coming over the years because it kept getting further and further away. At first the majority of members were Arlington, Mid Cities and Fort Worth members and we all tried to meet randomly around the DFW area to make it fair to all members.

Then for awhile Me, Steve Kan, and Tim Schulh decided to take it by the rains and make the club an effective tool for members. I and Steve started teaching how to and showing members how to work on their cars. Admittedly the meetings at that time began being at my house every month because on somebody’s car we’d do a repair or upgrade. Then Rotary Performance got involved and we would randomly go there and do Dyno Days and how to classes as well.

Soon after that a handful of members wanted to meet with other clubs and groups and the Starbucks in Irving was born where we’d meet with the Supra gang. However due to some bad seeds and the volume of cool cars we just attracted too much attention and the idiots that were attracted ruined that location for the good people.

Cheddars became the TEMPORARY alternative site and thus began the complaint of many members of the drive being an issue. This was also the start of the confusion as to when the meetings would start. 7:00pm was always the start time but because the majority of members where now driving upwards of an 45mins-1hr 7:00 turned to 8:00 and later. Also within a year we went form like 50 members to like 10.

I realize it will never be even for everybody but the original idea was to make it fair for as many members as possible.

Just my Rant! Now back to your program!

thanks Anthony, for your input , my bad about the location, i should have ask about that before, i did just post you opinion on the rx8 and dfw mazda forum about the location maybe be around in middle of dallas and FW. i guess a good area maybe GB turnpike and 635 , but again but this for every to come out and show their car and hang around together as mazda people, i respect your opinion on the teaching issues, but maybe RP and Steve Kan should be better sales man and learn to give out their business card and keep their skill in their shop, NO DISRESPECT TO ANYONE, but again this is to have all mazda together if possible, you can sale your self at any time and that you can do whatever a possible cx request for, but dont give your skill away, and never teach for free. and about the having a big crowd well if every one act like an adult we would never have any issues, and if any one gets out offline and act stupid well we all can call the police to escort out that person out of the area, plain and simple, IF the Corvette ,Porsche and Dallas Mustangs crew can do it and never have any issues than we can it as well.

so what time to what time and which day out of the week would be good, one quick question how there are from the Forth Worth and Arlington area.

how about the grapevine area, thatis where the the RX8 crew always meet , for the same reason, in middle of DFW.

OK, looks possible Grapevine, so far iam getting some good feed back from the rx8 crew, some from the DFW crew but slowly getting more, how about the RX7????. come on people gravepine is right in the middel and cool places we can have this , like in the grapevine mall.

Just my two cents from someone who organized the TXIC (subaru) weekly dinners and lunches for a bit over a year. For whatever reason the bulk of people in the DFW area don't want to drive more than a few minutes to go to any meet. (People in Houston will drive an hour across that hellish city to go to a meet but people in Plano won't drive out to someplace near the airport.) People always bitch about the location. Even when we moved the location around to accommodate those who complained about the distance the same people showed up and the people complaining rarely did. The DFW finally ended up having three or so regular regional meets (N. Dallas, Arlington, and Ft. Worth) and doing a large joint meeting every two or so months that would replace the everyone's regularly scheduled meeting. The big meets where generally well attended, successful, and didn't burn anyone out driving forever while still keeping the greater Subaru community connected with one another.

The best solution we found was to get a set date and time and reasonable location. Those people who show up get to decide where the next meet is. That way those who are willing to put the effort in to show up get rewarded for doing so. When the new guy from BFE shows up then everyone can decide to move the meet closer to him etc.

Don't let negative nancy's put you off organizing this. Before we got our stuff off the ground it floundered for months with people not being able to decide on a location and no one willing to step up and say meet here at so and so time or not if you don't want to come. Just set a time and place a go to it. Work with those who show up. Due to lack of time and a rotary that isn't a beater I haven't been very active with any car clubs lately but hope to change this as summer nears. Good luck on getting this setup and running.

Hope this takes shape. Haven't had a "big" rotary meet since the Rotary BBQ days.

ok people, since it is so hard to please everyone, let's do one DFW all mazda meeting. If everything goes well then we will set up another meet within 2 months in Fortworth and then in Dallas or in the same spot if people preffers. so to start it will on a centralize area in DFW.

Date: Sat March 27, 2010
Location: Grapevine Mills Mall , in Grapevine ( behind Golden Corral parking lot ).
Time: 2pm - 6pm

I'm in!!! Well, schedule permitting! As for location, I live in the mid-cities (HEB) so the drive is not usually an issue as long as it is somewhat neutrally positioned. That being said, alternating between Dallas and Ft Worth is also an option, but could cause further fracturing of the group or adding to the confusion as to where it's going to be held. (I'm always checking online so that is never a problem) Bottom line is if you want to go, you'll be there regardless.....

ok people small change on the location , Now its going to be at Big Racks BBQ
1720 State Hwy 26, Grapevine, TX 76051 , just about 200 feet down from the
previous place, on Hwy 26 and Bass Pro Dr., the mall was ok with event but the
insurance people to have the event keep giving me problems with it. Everything
is set and done with BIG RACK BBQ, we got the place for the same time as
before 2-6pm march 27. sorry guy i know its smaller than the mall lot but at least
we got a place that we wont get kick off the place. according to Allen the guys in charge
of the restaurant we can fit about 60-70 cars.
