I just moved to Austin myself a few weeks ago. If you like the bars, definitely check out 6th street downtown near the capitol. There's a Coyote Ugly downtown that's fun to check out.

If you are in town on a Saturday, there's a big car show up off exit 255.

Otherwise there's a lot of good museums (Bob Bullock/IMAX).

I'd suggest eatting at a Texas Land & Cattle once while you are here. Awsome steaks.

There's a rotary club, Texas RXs www.texasrxs.org, we meet this Wednesday at Rudy's BBQ. It's on Highway 183 North, exit on Balcones/Duval, it's along the highway besides Carrabba's.

texas land and cattle is ok but you can get a steak anywhere, check out Hoover's on Manor road or Threadgills down south for the real grub

If you like BBQ you really should check out the Salt Lick too. They have the best BBQ anywhere. That's not just my opinion either ... I saw a Discovery Channel thing about BBQ and the Salt Lick was #1 in the US, heh....

Summers hmm , I think hot as hell sums it up nicely. Bring alot of shorts. Being a native of the North East this place has been pretty hard for me to get use to.

As for RX7 stuff going on while you are here, I'm not to sure. You can alaways help me work on my fd if you get bored

Garland is oh...... 230ish miles North of Austin. Although once on 35 it is pretty much a straight shot.

Come on up and visit me, A3ON7. I'm in Grand Prairie which is a suburb of Dallas; 200 miles north of Austin (3 hr drive).

You can also go near the airport at IronRock Raceway and race karts. The shifter karts cost a lot more if the single gear limited power karts don't cut it for you.

4th bars have more young professionals (Cuba Libre, Light Bar, Glass Bar, Six, Fado, Foundation, Gingerman, Cedar Street).
There may be some college kids on 6th since summer session is starting.
If you want to watch some World Cup, you can go to Ringers downtown.

Rent a car and cruise through the Hill Country.

Actually I wont be at the 1431 meet tonight even though I go every saturday but if you want go check that out. It usually ends about 9pm and people start to meet at Taco Cabana at 183 and 360. If its not there you can always cruise to Main Event on 183. Those are the street meets.
