Harris Hill is it, and its for streetcars only. Club track, but should have some "open" days/weekends. One of the guys involved used to post here. Not open yet, though, unless somehow I missed the memo.

There's also Thunderhill (oval) about half a mile from HHR.

I can tell you that it's *very* close to Harris Hill Road.

http://tinyurl.com/28dys8

I'm pretty sure if you take 973, it's more like 30 minutes to get there.

You're on the SE side, so you're pretty close to DT, depending on traffic. Closer to the drag strip than most of us, too. Obviously, you're very close to the airport. What else you wanna know?

Hi, Chris.

I was out there Saturday night. Good times. I think the kids are sometimes more fun to watch than the features.

Ozzman, there's also a few tracks you could overnight at (or make a loooong day trip to).

Texas World Speedway in College Station
MotorSport Ranch in Cresson (just south of Ft. Worth)
MotorSport Ranch in Angleton (just south of Houston)

Did you ever run at Hallett up there? Dunno what part of OK you're in.

Thanks Chris
I was wandering if it was a good area to live crime, gangs and such. I was trying to get as close to the airport as possable (thats where im going to be working).
Ive never ran at Hallet in my 7, but I have taken my CBR 929 RR there and had a blast. I live about 2 hours south of Hallet in Norman, OK.

I broke down in Norman once...long ago.

Hallett is one of my favs.

In regard to Del Valle, I'd say that (based on admittedly not much more than 'word on the street' - mostly speculation mixed with stereotypes, along with some facts) you're definitely not going to be in one of the nicer, safer areas of town. That being said...it's hard to find a truly bad place to live in Austin. Crime is very low here. Especially 'major' crimes. And to be fair, I'm not intimately familiar with Del Valle, so I don't know how much more help I can be (could I have offered less?). I actually looked at land out farther East of DV not long ago. Ended up elsewhere, though.

Depending on what your budget looks like, in the future if you wanted to move, you'll obviously figure out pretty quickly what else is close to the airport. With 71 being built up now, it's much easier to move around between Bastrop/Del Valle/SE Austin, and South Central Austin.

Welcome to town.

I think I knew the guy that owned that car before you, was a pretty cool dude. Met him at a meet in OKC when I was stationed up at Altus AFB(middle of nowhere). I'm at Randolph AFB(San Antonio) now. Let us know if you ever head down this way.

The other good thing about living in Del Valle is you're minutes from my shop, and the abundance of first gen/Miata parts I have. I'm not exactly sure where Ross Rd is on 71, but I would imagine you're no more than 10-15 minutes from me (I'm about 2 minutes from where SH130 intersects FM812).

And I forgot to mention the Rallycross course in my backyard.

As far as crime, it depends where in DV you are. If the neighborhood looks even remotely decent, crime shouldn't be too bad. Really the only bad places in DV are the trailer parks, and thats true anywhere.

See, I should've let Chris continue with this one from the get go.

Also, that rallycross course in his yard is badass.

Sounds like a plan, Chris. They're calling for less rain starting Thursday or so, so I think it'll be nice again quicker than we thought.
