After putting my RB muffler on, I took it for a test drive. I didn't run the car hard, and when I was pulling a u turn at ~5mph, I heard a weird noise. It sounded kind of like the carb was just loading up, and I thought nothing of it. Then, after straightening out and stopping at the stop sign, the noise continued.
I pull away from the sign, and my motor sounds even more like a lawn mower. It sounded exactly like an exhaust leak right at the header/motor, but the car was down on power.
I got the car backed to the house, and thought that maybe the muffler was clogged; causing back pressure issues. So, I disconnected the muffler. Noise was still there. I did a compression check, and both rotors hit 90PSi.
To make a long story short, over the past week, I changed my fuel filters, plug, distributor cap, rotor, and even converted back to stock ignition, rebuilt my carb, and messed with the timing. Checked the compression again and rotor one has 0 pressure. We dropped the header and felt the apex seals, and they were just tore the hell up.
I was saving money/building credit to buy a car sometime next year, but this elevated the situation to top priority. I dropped by Ray Brandt Toyota, saw an xB I liked, signed the papers, and drove home. When I start to get my finances back in order, the RX-7 will get back on the road. It will be better, stronger, and faster. I promise.
I'll still go to the meets, of course! It's just that you'll have to make an exception for my slow car.

I would like to have a meet when steve kan can come down and tune. I went from an lt8 and a bnr stage IV earlier this year and am now installing an lt10s, alky injection, t61, ceramic coated uper and lower intake manifold, exhaust mani and turbine, stainless steel braided everything, msd knock box, blah blah blah hopefully will be done in the next month or so. Would love if we could have a meet and bring down steve kan or brian with bnr.

well, I just sold an FC the other day....but i am not leaving the 7 community...top secret project in the works. I could tell you about it, but then, well, you know....lol
on top of that, I am also going to tear down my T-Bird SC and go nuts....bore out the block, bigger pistons, stage 3 on the m90, ported heads, more fuel, headers, no cats, true duals, and a standalone to run it all. Should be putting down some serious numbers when finished. And then there is the 4x4, which is dying for a 302 swap, but that one is lower on the list....
