I'm going to be pulling the transmission on my '86. I believe I've chewed up my pilot bearing, seeing that it won't go into gear anymore while running (And I think I heard it chewing before it went...lol) I've checked my hydraulics, and all is well, just incase anyone was wondering.
Anywho, what I will be doing, since I have the tranny out anyway... is replacing the pilot bearing, throwout bearing, and the clutch. I ordered the full OEM clutch kit off of rx7.com. And since the ONLY local mechanic who works on 7's wants $400 to replace a $6.88 part, well...I'm stuck with doing it myself. I'm on a tight budget o.O
I've done tons of research, watched videos, etc of how to do this. I've even got the FSM. However, I don't feel quite comfortable enough to go at this by myself. I lack the experience and the know-how, and if something else is messed up that I don't know about, I'm not quite sure I'd be able to recognize it. Is there anyone locally that would be willing to give a hand? If ya want beer, food, it's whatever. I just would like someone who know's what they're doing to guide me through this and help me learn so I can do the work better next time, and minimize my chances of ******* up something through my stupidity!
It's a **** shot, but is anyone up for it?
