Is XS just full of crap or what?
I've got a TO4S strip kit that need replacing, so I decided to call around. I got a quote from cheapturbo.com for $825 which is about what I paid for my last one from XS through RX-7 Store. I called XS a few months ago and they gave me a new price of $1100+. Just for giggles I called them again and they quoted me $1500! I asked him why it was so much when my last one was only $800, and he said thats not possible and that they have to do all these special mods to it that requires a day and a half of welding. I really like the power of this turbo, so I am just trying to make sure that if I get it through someone else it will be the same thing. What exactually do they do that is so special? I am about done with that company cause it seems like every time I call I get a different story. Can someone with some knowledge of these turbo's shed a little light on it please.
xs = full of **** retards.
oh sorry that might have been to blunt.
their turbos are CHEAP. and CHEAPLY BUILT. they sell $700 turbos for that much. its insane.
how they can seel a bottom of the line 60-1 for $1500 is beyond me. and what the hell is with their kits with 2 bolt downpipes? ok im done bitching bout xs now

those guys suck. . . i got a to4e from them. the downpipe flange broke off within 10k miles. i had the turbo upgraded to a 60-1 at a local shop out here. he said i needed to look into having him do a rebuild on it in the near future. evidently, they used the CHEAPEST parts possible when building. i knew for a fact that the welding was trash. haha. anyways, they dont use 360deg bearings and charge you like eleventy million dollars for it all. . . those guys suck!!!! i doubt ill EVER use them again.

So from this I assume they do no more than slap a 1.00 hotside on a 60/1 and resell it with polished housing? They made it sound like there was some super secret thing they did to the turbo. They also told me the TO4S street and strip kits were two completly different turbos.

I am now running the "Blowzilla" from cheapturbo - Very nice guys - no bs
This past weekend i put down 419 @15psi. Very similar in feel but a better top end.
I got the T4 with a 1.00 divided - I think P trim. The only thing you will need to do is purchase a vclamp kit and have your downpipe modified by a muffler shop.
Note: The Blowzilla is a little more sensative to oil blow bye. The best solution is to run a line from the oil fill neck to the air filter side of the turbo. You will always be at atmosphere or pulling vacuum.
Hope this helps - I have felt your pain.

I order a turbo from cheapturbo today, and I upgraded to a GT compressor wheel. I guess it is used in the TO4R and is 66mm vs the 61 mm from my old one. Ken said that it should spool the same because the wheel is lighter and has a differnt blade setup. I need to do some investigation to see exactually what the difference will be other than better top end. How does this compare to the blowzilla turbo?

I had them tune my PFC via mail order and Steve Kan had to change all the settings.
Lucky I did not blow the engine.
