Would I have to Open the Engine to even use a T66?

I can score a Good deal for a Brand new Turbonetics T66-1...

the turbo has the internals upgraded (Ball Bearing and possibly clipped)

mounted on some Tubular headers, what I'm wondering is if an Un-ported Rotary Can Spool the turbo.... (with other proper Supporting mods Fuel/FMIC/etc)

Lag I can live with.. say full boost at 4,500-5,000 RPM

For one, thats a small turbo so your gonna spool fast, much faster than you think. Two, you don't ever "have" to port your engine. It will broaden your powerband, but its not necessary. Ari Yallon made over 600rwhp on stock ports. I'll be shooting for the same.

Wink

Guys, when you speak of turbine A/R's you have to remember that it is all relative to what turbine it is, if its a T3, or a T4 makes a difference. And yes a T-66 is a BIG turbo even for a rotary. If the T-66 has a T3 turbine, i'd say it will spool very fast, but if its a properly sized T4 turbine it will take a little bit to spool.

ErnieT, there is a very good book called Maximum Boost writen by corkey bell, read it before you build your turbo charged car.

If I remember correctly, Corky Bell actually recommends small ports on a turbocharged street car

have any of u guys heard of "MASTER POWER" turbo's?

are they any good? A guys wants to sell a brand new T62-1 for about a Grand...

here's some pics:

it has a 3' V-Band

he says he spools at 3,000 rpm and full boost at about 4,200 in 2nd Gear...

that's on a RB26.. would I see similar results on my 13B?

how are you going to get a intercooler pipe on this turbo? Unless this is for ebay "for show" purposes only. the picture above is scary. Anyways if you are looking to pic up a quailty turbo charger for around 300-350 bucks find a Borg Warner s-200. If you do a search you can find that a forum member almost layed down 500 rwhp on this turbo. Also these will outlast any master power/ss auto. Most come with a divided 1.15 backside and p-trim.

the turbo in the the pic is just for testing placement on the manifold/engine.. he rotated the Housing later pointing away from the engine to the Right... that's not it's final location

the Turbo's are made in brazil, dunno if that's better then the Thailindi ones or not.. but they have a website at least, instead of being a ghost company.. AND make disel turbos:

Master Power Site

says it's Turbine A/R is 0.96 and and Compressor is 0.7
