Would i be happier with t66 OR 35/40?

Yep.. ive pontificated, searched asked you name it to make sure I get the best package for my FD that
road races ,but is a streeet car first and I keep coming back to theese two choices,t66 and 35/40

Either way I will go ball bearing ,Don at Marvelspeed is building me a nice fresh streetported motor and I plan on running about 15 pounds.
The issue of the 35/40 running out if puff at the top end may sway me to the t66 but not at the expense of low end grunt.

Its pretty hard not to get caught up in the whole horsepower thing(I,m trying hard!)but "room to grow" is appealing, thoughts please,Carl

Im going to be running a t61... my guys tell me that is a fairly big turbo for the street. the 60-1 is considered one of the more "streetable" turbos

i plan on making around 400 hp on pump and having full spool in the 3500ish range

what kind of power output are you looking for?

this is the t66 compaired to the t61... these maps are kinda crap because of different a/r's and stuff but they give you a base idea.

I think you would be happiest with the 35/40, read up in the single turbo facts and you will find a thread with alot of happy 35/40 customers

Doesn't Innovative make a ball-bearing T66? the GT66?

That makes the price difference marginal.

I loved my T66 everyone says... if you do a search
How you have to run this turbo 20PSI + to make power

I had a T66 .81 non-bb P trim running 14PSI
I would see full boost by 4200RPM max
ran 11.72@14PSI

I have a vid (8 months ago)after i got the turbo on and did light tunning for the street 10PSI only
DIVX needed..... this was on a sunday in case you see the school zone and worry about it lol RIGHT CLICK SAVE
Video
later I turn up the boost to 14PSI and this made a huge diffrence
I most of gained 60+ HP with just a 4 PSI increase

i'll have a vid of my 35/40R (from aspec) this week sometime. i'm running .8 bar (for now) and get it my 4k rpm.
dyno'd over 400rwhp @ .8 bar (yes i have graphs).
i think its the best of both worlds, top end like a t-78 and decent spool, bb. it works really well with my road race street port from pineapple
pm sean at aspec if you want to know more.

Re: Would i be happier with t66 OR 35/40?

what makes you think the GT35/40 puffs out at 15psi? The turbos is capable of running more than 15psi .. you stated your car is a "street car" and that you "road race" by searching on the GT35/40 you will see this is probably the turbo that suits you best...

good luck with either turbo you go with

Ok, what would you guys consider puffing out in top end?

I am getting this kit installed in a couple weeks. Planning on running 1 bar with a stage 2 port from gotham. According to Rich it should be around the 425 range...

The t66 is much larger than a 35/40. ITs about the size of a greddy t78. It will make more power than the 35/40, especially at higher boost levels. The disadvantage is the 66 will spool significantly slower. It all depends on what you want to do with the car. I ran the 35/40 for over a year and it was great for low end power and decent top end. I would get 15 psi by 3500 rpm. According to KDR's dyno, I put down 430 at 15 psi and 470 at 20 psi. I think the dyno might have been a bit optimistic though. I didn't like how power fell off past 7500 rpm. And also, the 66 can be ordered with the ball bearing option but its a waste of money in my opinion. A 35/40 is almost twice the cost of a plain bearing 66.

Get the best of both worldsd and get tge GT40R kit. Efficent at lower boost levels, lots of power, and great spool. Plus it has a divided manifold and exhaust inlet for faster spool which the GT35R does not have a divided exhaust inlet.

Icemastr I hear you,but I need data and dynos before I,m sold.
Badog posted pictures (on the other forum?) of a t78 and gt40 side by side and the 40 was more impressive.
I spoke to Shaun at A Spec yesterday and there is someone who is going to dyno this week so hopefully we will see some good numbers real soon.
