whooshing noise

the bov was tapping my hood so i turned the screw in and lowerd the piping.
since i have refitted the bov i have been having a whooshing noise/whissle when the car is boosting.
it sounds almost like the turbo is doing it under boost?
i put the bov setting back to were it was.
the car still boosts fine when it does it. 8psi on loose setting but add 2psi when it was tighter.
the bov still dumps properly when you lift off.
there are no visible leaks/cracks/splits that i can find.
it has only done it since adjusting the bov and it only does it under partial load as the turbo is starting to go online.

any help would be great

garret to4e, turbonettics godzilla bov.

pressure test for boost leaks. You will see if air is escaping from the BOV.

get a metal cap the same size as the inlet of your turbo, tap/weld it with a tire valve, tighten it down with the same silicone clamps from your intake setup, then pressurize. Use a tire gauge filler to slowly bring the pressure up.

it's not really like a coolant pressure test... air is still going to escape out of the exhaust ports. You aren't fully sealing the system then walking away from it to see if it holds pressure. You are just going to continously pressurize the intake tract and then feel around the BOV to see if air is escaping. You can look at your boost gauge in the car, I would make sure it says at least 5psi. Once you have located any unwanted air leaks (couplers, gaskets, BOV, whatever) you can disconnect the tester and address those problems.

Here is a boost leak tester. You can buy this or make your own: www.boostpro.net/prodtester.html , universal tester at bottom

first do you have a air compressor? if you do then you should have an air tool....

find a spray paint cap, or some other cap that fits into your INTAKE coupler. If you really want to find something nice for this hit up the cupboard that contains all your plastic cups/ thermoses lol. Find something that fits the coupler. Now go get your air tool and unscrew the air chuck out the bottom of it. Drill a hole in the top/bottom of whatever your using and screw that air chuck in the bottom. clamp the tester in the coupler, kink the air hose, plug the air hose in, slightly unkink the hose, listen for leaks

I would go higher than 5 psi, maybe up to 10-15 psi if you can. If it's your BOV you're worried about leaking, you have to make sure the spring is set tight enough that it won't leak under boost.
