Who says the t78 is too laggy

To all you people that think the t78 is too laggy, you have no clue what your talking about. I would bet 90% the people who argue that it is too laggy have never drove a car with it. I recently had this turbo installed and i find it to be a very streetable turbo. I find that the turbo actually reaches full boost around the same time my stock twins did. They are very responsive, and as soon as i push the gas, im in boost a split second later. and as soon as the boost comes on it shoots right up to full boost, no matter where its set at. I feel that this turbo is the best thing i have ever done to my car. I actually feel more comfortable with this turbo then the stock twins. Also, i am only using a stock ported motor, and i made 402.9 rwhp. I got skip from kdr's anti detonation device and my motor is holding strong.

if you get boost around the same time your stock twins did, your stock twins were fucked up.

how do you like the anti-det-device? any info you can give us?

i doubt your car boost the same as stock, but I do agree with you that the lag isn't as bad as everyone says. I also agree that most people who talk crap about the t78 probably have never driven one.

It's not the "same " as the twins But mine was at full boost by 3500 rpm in 2nd. It has since melted down! It was very streetable for me. I ran it at 10 psi on the street. Aloha, Dave

10 psi by 3500 is believable....this isnt full boost.

It really depends a lot on your porting. I don't notice much lag with mine, and I am sure most ppl have moderate street porting at the very least, with a T78.

No it doesn't spool as quickly as the stock twins, but its plenty quick enough for daily driving.

That's what my BC was at so that's full boost!! What do you consider full boost?, Max of the turbo? In that case the stock twins never reached full boost since they are capable of 10 psi +. Not arguing just asking for what u consider full boost? Aloha, Dave

It is laggy, and before I get told I don't know what I'm talking about I've driven and built more single turbo's than most on this forum and there are better choices out there, but the important thing is you like it and that's what matters most

Many of us misanderstood the word "laggy". On a rotary engine there is not any significant lag no matter what turbo you are running. Any turbo will start spooling (give boost because it's spooling even a idle) from 2-3k rpm's thats no lag. For a rotary engine there are turbos that give full boost early and turbos that need more rpm's to give full boost but no laggy turbos.

A laggy turbo is the T04R on my friends Honda that starts to give boost at 4500rpm and full boost at 6500rpm or a T51R-KAI on an escort cossworth that gives full boost 1.5bar at 7500rpm.

T-78 is a great turbo and I have always said the lag is overrated.

Do you drive the car often?

Have you gone through a lot of motors, or has it been reasonable?
I only ask, because I am going single, and a few people around have had issues with accessive motor popping since they have gone single.

T-78 is a bad ***** on the street - I honestly don't know why everyone thinks its laggy on the 7 - I sure the hell didn't think so.

I have gone thru a couple of motors, but it was not the turbos fault. I had boost problems and spiking killed them. The key is having the right fuel system and tuned.

Yeah, figured as much. I won't buy the turbo until I know exactly the right fuel system components to go with.
Thanks for the perspective.
