Who here has a Borg Warner S366?

Hey everybody, I have a 13bre motor, street ported, 3mm apex seals, solid side seals, Rx8 e-shaft/stat gears, haltech E6k, 550+1680cc inj. I'm debating on whether I should buy a S366 or a S361. I'm kind of worried about spool, my local dealer here can put together this turbo but he can only find me a T4 .98-1.0A/r rear housing. I've found a few threads, and I'm leaning towards the 366. I haven't been able to find any videos on Rx7's except for 1-3 face I believe on a FC. Also does anyone have any haltech maps for this turbo?

I've had them both, technically 1 s361 and two s366's. I really recommend the s366... LMK if pricing is an issue as I can get them brand new also...

How did the HP compare on the two?

obviously you can't rely on other people's maps, if finding a tuner in your location is an issue then you will have to experiment on tuning the car yourself.

They were two entirely different setups running different boost and intake manifolds. As stated, you'll have to use theory for your setup. Greg (Blitzed33) had stock ports on his s366 and broke 600whp.

There's much more options these days with Borg Warners so you can easily mix and match what will be best for your setup. For my last customer we used a T4 .91 a/r turbine housing to reduce lag. We/He also did not plan on revving the hell out of the motor so the smaller housing was going to be better overall anyway.

I feel weird saying this every time I talk to someone because I say it way too much; Figure out what you want to do with the car before you even touch it. You'll save so much money and have less headaches in the future...

Thanks guys, the thread I did find was Blitzed. I know you can't rely on other peoples map but it's a good starting point when tuning on the dyno. It's weird that more people haven't used this turbo. I know Demetrios was selling the S361 in his kit but I think it might be a little small. The engine is in it's final stages of build up and only the turbo is missing, I'm looking for about 500whp...

i have never used one but took a quick look at the specs. seems like you could make 500 hp on either. the 361 would just take more boost but would be more responsive. like someone said above it really depends on what you plan on using the car for, and what boost level/kind of fuel you wanna run.

I have pretty much the same setup you have now, just with a Haltech P1000 and bigger injectors...

Now I have the s366 with the .91 devided a/r. I havent been tuned yet but getting on the throttle with my afr's in high 9's yeild 0 pressure at 3000ish rpms... I would however take this with a grain of salt though.

Calculations for how much power I "could" make with the s366 with the .91 was around 560-590ish whp... maybe a little more if I push the crap out of it. The rear housing being the limiting factor.. I will tell you though that I believe Im going to love the spool up on this turbo.... Plus it sounds amazing. lol

I would listen to the rest of the guys thought about each person car being different with results, it's the small things that people overlook and sometimes make the difference.

Im running a xcessive lower intake manifold, Customer long tube turbo manifold with dual 38mm wastegates, water to air, with short piping, Ported upper intake manifold and a radical street port. So my results are going to vary from yours I would think..

Like what other people said... figure out what you want to achieve and then purchase... FAR FAR cheaper in the end... Good luck

For 500whp, the S366 isnt necessary. I would use the S362, at 75lb min its a great choice. The S366 comes with a .91 housing at the largest, whereas the S362 you can step up to a 1.00 if you want.

What manifold are you guys running w/ the S366? Although I'm considering the S372, I'm curious as to which manifolds fit the dimensions of these larger framed turbos.

That's the issue I'm having now. Won't work with my HKS style cast iron manifold and tried to fit it on there with an eBay style manifold to see if it would fit and that was a no go also.

Indian, got a picture of that thing sitting in your engine bay? Where did you get the manifold from?

I am hoping this thing (S366) will fit with a Greddy T4 tubular manifold (T88 kit), without making love to the LIM (Xcessive)

here is one, its the dual wastegate lone tube manifold from Steve Kan. Works and looks great. It's still close to the LIM though( I do however run the xcessive one.

I also went with the custom housing that has the 90 deg bend on it. Worth it

A good manifold with this turbo and a proper exhaust and your good to go.

I am running a s366 as well. Just waiting for my microtech to turn up boost. For some reason once the new map sensor and HKS DLI were put in, the power fc did not like it. I am shooting for 550, 500 easily with the supporting mods.

Do you have a measurement of the turbine side? The reason I ask is because the "race cover" is from an S400SX. BW doesnt have a factory race cover for the S300SX series. It looks like you might have an S400SX 66mm turbo.
