Who has done a Break-in with single?

Just curious as to how many people have broken in a fresh rebuilt engine with a single? How did you have your boost controller set and what was your pressure settings?

I have a T78 and I don't want to risk pushing it too much till I get a good number of miles on it. I don't plan to take it past 4k, just because thats where the t78 is getting towards its peak power compression.

How have you done this, and what type of mileage did you put on the car before you started pushing it again with higher boost?

Thanks

I have a T78 although not used for running in i would say if you kept the rev range around 3000rpm per gear change it should be fine, unless you got Anti - lag setup???

i just turned my boost controller off, wastegate spring only let me run 6psi.
here's what my builder told me to do:
0-500 miles: partial throttle, no boost, up to 4000rpm.
500miles: oil and filter change.
500-2000miles: gradual increase in load (boost just kinda happens when you increase the load) and rpm. @ 2000miles should be about 3/4 throttle up to 7000rpm.
tune on dyno.

I was told that you only need 1000 miles of break in, change oil at 500 miles and then again at 1000 then have fun. Just don't boost on the new engine pretty simple huh?

well, i didn't want to waste $4k, so i drove it for another few days. i also had some stuff cryo'd, so they take a little longer, or so i was told.
there are lots of different people that say different distances. plus how you put the miles counts too.
you can kinda tell how your motor is running. at first its kinda loose, but when you put the miles on, you can kinda "feel" it get stronger and stronger. at least that was my experience.

Paximus I agree with your last statement. On both of my rebuilds especially the most recent I felt it get stronger the more miles I put on it. Pretty crazy actually.
