Where to get pipe for making turbo manifold?
What's a good source for both the cast midl steel "steam pipe" people are using and also good thick walled stainless?
Its cast stainless pipe that people are using. Get it at http://www.mcmaster.com/ .

I did not order my tube from them because they didn't offer the size i wanted but they bent the straight tubing for me. They also sell mandrel bends.

sorry i missed the "thick wall" part

is 16gauge thick enough, it seems that's as thick as Burns goes (either in 321 or 304)? Not a great selection of bends, I'd rather not have to make turns by sectioning. They have nice transitions between oval and round, would come in hand for mating to a divided flange.
16 gauge is about a 1/16 of an inch thick. There is no way I would trust hanging a wastegate or a turbo on something so thin. You will crack the manifold. Weld els are you best bet unless you can get custom bends on Sch 40 weld els.

Search and you shal find. Every thing you need to know is on this forum for building a Cast stainless weld L and piping manifold. OR you could go the really expensive and LESS robust way of getting thin walled tubing as some suggest (Burns). Going the mcmaster route, in materials alone will be less then $100.

the link doesn't work.
Thanks for all the info though, "weld l's" are exactly what I was looking for, I forgot what they were called.
I searched that word and came up with a link to the pieces from McMaster, which is great because i get the stuff next day (same with Summit, only thing Ohio is good for
)

A couple more questions. Should I go 316 over 304? The price difference really isn't that much, but is it superior for this use? I only ever hear discussion of 321 and 304.
What filler wire are you using on 304, 316. And are you preheating? Cooling in sand?
Thanks for the help.
